Hanging on the walls of the rooms there are none of the usual reproductions of period prints typical of grand hotels (in Rome as elsewhere), but only 'genuine', signed photography (in itself a genre made to be reproduced...), with large color photographs of flowers by the great photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
The walls, which are deliberately just painted, are all in very delicate and restful pastel hues, as is the upholstery. There are various types of bathroom, but they are all in marble or marble mosaic. The bathroom designs range from the classical to the contemporary, but in all cases the most classical materials are used.

Named for the celebrated artist who stayed here for several months in 1917, our Picasso Suite pays homage to its namesake through its expressive, elegant décor. The airy and bright Valadier Suite has elegant floor-to-ceiling windows and a French balcony overlooking Pincian Hill and Hotel de Russie's Secret Garden. Named after architect Giuseppe Valadier (also the designer of part of the hotel and the Garden), the suite is beautifully appointed and decorated in a contemporary yet classic style. A cheerful yellow and green color palette complements the suite's breathtaking views, while stylish sliding doors separate the spacious sitting room and dining area from the bedroom, which has a walk-in wardrobe with a dressing-table. The opulent marble bathroom has a separate bathtub, double shower and double wash basins, and the suite also has its own powder room.

Following a complete renovation led by Olga Polizzi, our Director of Design, this exceptional suite pays tribute to the graceful poise of esteemed ballet dancer and choreographer, Vaslav Nijinsky, who was a frequent visitor to Hotel de Russie.
The exquisite Nijinsky Suite makes a statement as a grand Roman residence. Its composition of indoor and outdoor space mirrors Nijinsky’s elegance and symmetry of form. Italian antiques harmoniously blend with bespoke modern artworks. Vibrant red walls and terracotta cabochon flooring pay homage to Rome’s beating heart, while a curated collection of 19th-century and Valadier-era objets d'art contribute to the feeling of historical sophistication.
