Fly to Ifotaka, where you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to camp. Settle into your tent overlooking the Mandrare River before an evening walk through the Forest of Zenavo. This unique experience offers the chance to see diurnal lemurs settling down for the night and nocturnal lemurs emerging after dark. Look for sifakas, sleeping white-foot sportive lemurs, mouse lemurs, chameleons, owls, and other wildlife of the spiny forest.

After breakfast, explore the sacred gallery forest in search of inquisitive ring-tailed lemurs and entertaining Verreaux’s sifaka. Return to camp for lunch and a relaxing afternoon by the pool. Later, walk through the sacred spiny forest, home to ancestral tombs of the Antandroy tribe and an extraordinary array of endemic flora and fauna. A local tracker will introduce you to Antandroy culture and customs before sundowners along the Mandrare River.

Head to the Spiny Forest at sunrise, where the light filters through octopus trees as you spot endemic birds like the crested coua, various vangas, and the running coua. Return to camp for breakfast, then visit the local market to meet the fascinating Antandroy tribe. Later, enjoy a sundowner with views of the sunset and moonrise across the baobabs. Local villagers may perform traditional dances, accompanied by singing and music.

Upon arrival in Anjajavy, settle into the lodge before heading out on a night walk through the reserve. Coquerel’s sifakas are a highlight, while the darkness reveals other nocturnal species, including sportive and mouse lemurs. Keep watch for chameleons, the endemic tsingy tuft-tailed rat, Commerson’s leaf-nosed bat, and the rare and elusive fossa, Madagascar’s largest predator.

Walk the Chemin des Crabes trail to discover vibrant birdlife, beautiful baobabs, and the famous hairy crab. Look for colorful species such as the red fody and Souimanga sunbird. During a signature Anjajavy Reserve experience, learn about the project to repatriate the Giant Tortoise to Madagascar. Continue through young coconut groves and explore caves at the base of the striking tsingy formations, including sites of animist and ancestral Sakalava significance.

Search for the critically endangered Madagascar fish eagle and, if conditions are right, enjoy some snorkeling. Return to the lodge for lunch before exploring King’s Alley on foot, where ancient baobabs, unusual tsingy formations, and lemurs—including the distinctive Coquerel’s sifaka—await.
