India’s spiritual side may be well-documented, but it’s deep-rooted heritage and intangible quality is best experienced up close and personal: at a Sikh pilgrimage site in Amritsar, a Buddhist monastery in Dharamshala, a Hindu temple in Shimla – or all three, on this fascinating itinerary through the hill stations of the Himalaya. These high-altitude hamlets, cities and towns are where British colonists once escaped the heat in summer, and now they’re remarkable destinations in their own right. A&K’s India experts ensure guests do more than scratch the surface of this vast, varied continent, with insider experiences and time soak it all in.
