Day 1: Welcome to Johannesburg
Johannesburg is South Africa's vibrant economic heart, a dynamic city where modern energy and cultural creativity meet a powerful and complex history. From the polished avenues of Sandton to historic neighborhoods that shaped the nation's struggle for freedom, the city offers a compelling introduction to contemporary South Africa. We'll greet you as you arrive from your flight and escort you by private transfer to your choice of distinctive hotels.
Day 2: Johannesburg and Soweto
Set out with your private guide for an enriching full-day examination of South Africa's vibrant modern spirit and turbulent past. Stark contrasts are evident as you drive through prestigious city districts like Sandton and explore Soweto; the historic South West Township is still infused with the history of the nation's struggle against apartheid. We'll also show you all of the Jo'burg's major historic sites including the Constitutional Court and City Hall as well as Nelson Mandela's former home. After lunch, a tour of the must-see Apartheid Museum takes you on a voyage of history discovery, illuminating the story of apartheid from its earliest roots up to the nation's first democratic elections of 1994.
