A Total Immersion with Brown Bears from Our Private Fly-In Wilderness Base
At Nat Hab's Alaska Bear Camp, photographers find matchless encounters with wild brown bears. Here on our private inholding within Lake Clark National Park, we are surrounded by some of the best bear viewing on the planet. Dozens of bears range over the terrain surrounding our camp, and we capture shots of them foraging for protein-rich sedges, digging clams on the tide flats, or catching fish in season. In late summer, when salmon run up the streams from the sea, bears feast on nature’s bounty—and all of it is on display before our cameras, often at very close range. Our sustainable bush camp provides a comfortable base for exploration in the bears' midst. New glass-fronted cabins face Chinitna Bay on one side while behind the camp, a two-story viewing platform overlooks a vast meadow where bears graze, facilitating outstanding photos. Our Expedition Leaders are not only top wildlife photographers but some of Alaska’s most experienced bear naturalists—their guidance sets you up for success!
