Rise early for another day of wildlife viewing. Akagera is home to a thriving lion population, which you can help track through the Lion Tracking Conservation Project, as well as black rhinos reintroduced in 2017. Keep an eye out for the elusive shoebill and its massive bill, among nearly 500 bird species in the park.

Day 7 Volcanoes National Park
Embark on your first trek through the enchanting Virunga Mountains, home to ten gorilla families. Observe these majestic creatures as they forage, play, and rest, reflecting our own behaviors. Despite the trek’s challenges, the reward of encountering these extraordinary animals is priceless. Spend the afternoon at Bisate Lodge enjoying its striking design, sampling gourmet meals featuring fresh vegetables from the lodge’s garden, and unwinding in the inviting lounge or around the cozy firepit.

Day 8 Volcanoes National Park
Today trek to see the endangered golden monkeys, watching these playful primates leap through the bamboo forests.
