Day 1: Arrive to Cape Town

Day 2: Half Day Authentic Cape Town City Tour

This morning, you will be picked up from your hotel for a half-day Cape Town City tour. No visit to Cape Town is complete without a tour of the "Mother City". Sense the depth of history as you drive past Parliament Buildings, City Hall, and the Slave Lodge before stopping for a short visit to the Castle of Good Hope (optional), originally built as a maritime replenishment station and now the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa! Alternatively, we walk around the Grand Parade square, which has its own historical significance.

We hear of the brief history of District Six en route to a visit to the Company Gardens, where we walk through the landscaped gardens. Learn more about the history of the Bo-Kaap and its people as we move up the cobblestoned hills to the Malay Quarter, and marvel at the ice-cream colours of the quaint Bo-Kaap homes.

Follow the journey of a professional diamond cutter with a visit to a diamond cutting factory. After learning more about the history of diamonds and gold in South Africa, we drive past the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Stadium, Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay as we make our way to Table Mountain, where you have the option of either admiring the views from the lower cable station or purchasing a ticket (for your own account) to reach the summit.

After delighting in this photo opportunity, return to your hotel, or enjoy additional time on the mountain before making your own way back at your leisure.

Day 3: Full Day Peninsula Tour

This morning you will be collected from your hotel. You drive along the exquisite stretch of coastline known as Millionaire's Paradise - from Clifton to Camps Bay, to the exclusive beach hamlet of Llandudno - towards the charming working harbour of Hout Bay. Wind along the legendary Chapman's Peak Drive, hugging the cliffs and relishing the breath-taking ocean views, before visiting the wild and beautiful Cape of Good Hope Section of the Table Mountain National Park, an integral part of the world-renowned Cape Floral Kingdom.

After lunch (own account), you meander along the coast and end your day at the penguin colony at Boulder's Beach, where you get to watch these entertaining, waddling characters before returning to Cape Town late this afternoon.

Day 4: Half Day Robben Island Tour and Gold Restaurant

Depart from the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront for a ferry journey across Table Bay to the historic Robben Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and powerful symbol of South Africa's journey to freedom. Once used as a political prison and earlier as a leper colony, the island today stands as a monument to the triumph of dignity, resilience, and human rights.

Upon arrival at Murray's Bay Harbour, you will board a bus for a guided tour around the island, visiting several historically significant sites including the lime quarry where prisoners performed hard labour and the Maximum Security Prison. Here, you will view Nelson Mandela's prison cell, where he was incarcerated for 18 of his 27 years in prison. Many of the guides leading the prison tour are former political prisoners, offering personal insights and a deeply moving perspective on the island's history.

During the visit, you will also have the opportunity to explore parts of the Murray's Bay Harbour precinct, including the Muslim shrine (kramat) and the museum shop, before returning by ferry to the V&A Waterfront.

Sample a set Cape Malay / African style menu which is served at the table in sharing and individual portions. The evening starts off with an interactive djembe drumming session followed by a traditional soothing hand washing ceremony. A professional djembe drum instructor will teach you how to play the basic rhythms of the djembe drum. Live entertainment during dinner includes a Mali puppet show which involves story telling with singers, dancers, puppets and musicians. The final performance is by the waiters and kitchen staff who will entertain you with some local song and dances.

Day 5: Half Day Walk to Freedom Tour

Today you will be picked up from your hotel for your half day Walk to Freedom Tour. Drive past the Slave Lodge and City Hall to view Mandela's Statue, site of the first ever public speech Nelson Mandela delivered after his release from prison. Then visit the riveting District Six Museum and travel through the District Six Site (Museum closed Sundays & Public Holidays) for a sharp reminder of the past. We proceed to tour Langa Township, the oldest apartheid housing scheme in the Cape, visiting the local market - Gugu Sthebe, where the community showcase their skills and various projects including arts & craft. Thereafter continue to see the informal housing as well as new housing developments under way. For those who have the time, do extend to a full day tour - a visit to Robben Island in the afternoon. Cruel home of our Nelson Mandela for so many years, it's a highly charged and emotional moment when you visit the site of this suffering, and realize how far South Africa has come from those days.

Day 6: Cape Town to Cape Winelands
