Arrive in Dar es Salaam and transfer to your hotel, a modern oasis in the heart of the vibrant city.

Fly to Nyerere National Park (formerly called Selous Game Reserve) and transfer to your safari lodge. The drive to your camp takes you along the river, so keep your eyes peeled for hippopotamus. After settling in, embark on your first game drive in Nyerere National Park, Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary.

The sheer vastness and diversity of the landscape, with hot volcanic springs, calm lakes and the Great Ruaha and Rufiji Rivers make Nyerere an amazing area to view wildlife. Rise at dawn for exceptional game drives along freely cut tracks, where you may see a pack of wild dogs searching for prey, large prides of lion looking magnificent in the early morning sun or zebra, giraffe, baboon and impala.

Cruise down the Rufiji River as you safari by boat in search of the elephant, hippo, buffalo and crocodile that frequent the banks on your last day in the country’s largest wildlife sanctuary.

This morning, join your guide to explore the park’s rolling lowland areas with wide sand rivers where scattered herds of impala, greater kudu, waterbuck, and zebra graze. Keep watch for Elephant digging in the sand rivers for the water below ground.

Today, set out for the park’s wide-open plains, tracking eland, antelope, lion, hyena, cheetah, leopard, wild dog and baboon. While you will not find the huge herds of game here as you might in the Serengeti, the game is more varied, and the stunning open landscape offers opportunities for amazing photography.

Fly to the fabled Serengeti National Park and settle into your classically tented safari camp. Then, set out on the boundless Serengeti, one of the oldest and least-changed ecosystems on earth, where the circle of life plays out every day. It is home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of wildlife, with lion, hyena and leopard all roaming free. For a portion of each year, dictated by weather patterns and the unpredictable nature of wild animals, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra move through the Serengeti in search of grass and water as part of the year-round Great Migration cycle. This evening, sip a cocktail and reflect on the majesty of Africa during a relaxing sundowner experience.

Venture out on morning and afternoon game drives in the protected Serengeti refuge, where flowing rivers support a plethora of species.
