Trafalgar Tours: Remarkable Adelaide to Kangaroo Island

Day 1 - Adelaide to Kangaroo Island
Your Kangaroo Island adventure begins in Adelaide, where you’ll join a city tour before heading through the Fleurieu Peninsula, a region of striking coastline, characterful towns and rich heritage. At Cape Jervis, board a ferry with your Small Group for the crossing over Backstairs Passage to Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island’s second-largest town. Once you arrive, stretch your legs along the Kangaroo Island Sculpture Trail, uncover the island’s past at the Maritime and Folk Museum or head to the beach for a swim. The rest of the day is yours to spend however you like. Tonight, settle in over dinner with your travel companions at the hotel.
Accommodations: Seafront Hotel Kangaroo Island
Meals: Dinner

Day 2 - Discover Kangaroo Island
Begin the day at Cape Willoughby Conservation Park, home to South Australia’s oldest operational lighthouse. Explore the visitor centre and museum, then wander the lighthouse grounds for sweeping coastal views. Continue to Kangaroo Island Wool for a mill tour and immersive cinematic experience inside Australia’s only 9-metre Igloo Dome, where the story of the island’s wool heritage unfolds from early settlement to the farmers who continue the tradition today. You’ll also meet the people behind this enduring local industry. Later, visit Kangaroo Island Brewery, where your host Mike crafts beer using rainwater collected from the roof of his shed. Enjoy a tasting paddle, or sip wine or cider, as you settle in for a relaxed afternoon.
Accommodations: Ozone Hotel Kangaroo Island
Meals: Breakfast

Day 3 - Remarkable Rocks and Seal Bay
Wonderful landscapes, remarkable wildlife and local flavours take centre stage. Begin at Remarkable Rocks, where rust-coloured granite boulders, shaped over 500 million years, rise above the Southern Ocean in dramatic fashion. Your next stop is Admirals Arch in Flinders Chase National Park, where New Zealand fur seals sprawl across the rocks below. At Seal Bay Conservation Park, watch playful seals tumble across the sand and slip into the surf just metres away on a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience. After a two-course lunch at Vivonne Bay Bistro, follow the island’s flavours from honey to wine. At Island Beehive, Peter shares samples of honey and honey ice cream, produced using Ligurian bees found on Kangaroo Island and nowhere else in Australia. Then visit Islander Estate Vineyard, where you’ll enjoy a tasting and hear about the winemaking process behind each glass.
Accommodations: Ozone Hotel Kangaroo Island
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 4 - Kangaroo Island to Adelaide
Your final discoveries begin at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, where the scent of Australia seems to fill the air. On a guided tour, learn how eucalyptus oil is distilled from the native Kangaroo Island Narrow Leaf Mallee, then browse the farmgate shop for essential oils, body products, sweets, honey and soaps. You’ll also have the chance to taste some of the island’s best cider. Back on the mainland, travel through the Fleurieu Peninsula, passing rolling vineyards, pristine beaches and charming towns on your return to Adelaide. With bags a little heavier from the island’s honey, wine and eucalyptus treats, it’s time to say farewell to Kangaroo Island and conclude your journey in Adelaide.
