Pause for a trailside lunch on the route to the lake itself, which is serenely nestled among the surrounding peaks. The layering of sediment, formed millions of years ago at the bottom of ancient seas, pressed together, and thrust upward by colossal tectonic forces to form these magnificent peaks is on full display in the exposed strata of rock here.
