DAY 1 Windhoek, Namibia
Arrive in Windhoek, Namibia and transfer to your luxurypermanent camp set on a private wildlife reserve in thecountryside surrounding Windhoek. Later, enjoy a sunsetsafari drive followed by a Scenic Sundowner cocktail andwelcome dinner.
Board a charter flight to Sossusvlei. Upon arrival, continueoverland to your luxurious camp nestled on a privateconcession of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, where youenjoy lunch. This afternoon, take a scenic drive through thereserve, observing the area’s unique desert-adapted plantsand wildlife, and learning about efforts to conserve itsdistinctive ecology.
Explore Sossusvlei, a place of stark yet undeniable beauty.The salt-and-clay pan is surrounded by towering dunesthat, together with the sky, comprise the palette of burntoranges and vivid blues so distinctive to the region. After anopportunity to climb “Big Daddy” — the tallest of the dunes— return to your lodge for an afternoon at leisure.
Rise early for a morning of exploring, with your choice ofa guided nature walk, ATV trail ride or scenic drive of theNamibRand Nature Reserve. Then, board your charter flightfor city of Swakopmund, a former German colonial enclaveof seaside promenades, half-timbered homes and windsweptbeaches. Upon landing, transfer to your hotel for lunch, andthen enjoy time to unwind, with your afternoon at leisure.This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Journey to Walvis Bay for a full day of private touring thattakes in stunning tableaus of sand and surf. Gaze upon thecaptivating dune landscape of Sandwich Harbour, where youwitness the meeting of sand and sea, with the Atlantic Oceanat your feet. Then, embark on a private cruise of Walvis Bay,keeping an eye out for pelicans, seals, dolphins and whales.Come ashore for a Chef’s Table experience, savoring aprivate traditional barbecue set on the sands of a local beach.Later, return to your hotel for the rest of the day at leisure.
This morning, ride an e-bike through Swakopmund’sOld City. Cycle past historic buildings and surroundingsthat showcase the city’s rich heritage. Afterward, fly byprivate charter to Purros Conservancy and settle into yourluxury lodge. Often described as one of the last truly wildareas in northwestern Namibia, the conservancy is roamedby desert-dwelling elephants. Later, enjoy dinnerat your magnificent lodge, which serves as your hub foryour next day’s adventures.
Head out on an early morning drive through a stunningwilderness secluded far off the beaten track, keeping an eyeout for distinctive plant life, strange rock formations andrare desert-adapted elephants. This afternoon, head out tomeet members of the last nomadic tribe of Namibia, theHimba. Revel in this authentic opportunity to learn abouttheir customs and traditions, mingling with tribal memberssporting ochre-red braided hair and costumes of hides andbeads, and gain insight into their beliefs, way of life andeveryday routine.
Board a private aircraft for a flight to the 84,000-acreOnguma Game Reserve. Upon arrival, settle into your luxurycamp before setting out on an afternoon game drive aroundthe private reserve. Watch for any of the hundreds of speciesof birds in the region as well as an astonishing variety ofgame, including lions, black and white rhinos, elephants andgiraffes.
Today, experience a guided morning game drive into theEtosha National Park to view more of the wide varietyof game and bird species roaming terrain that includesgrasslands and salt pan. Return to your lodge for lunchfollowed by time to relax at the refreshing infinity edgeswimming pool. Then, head out again for a sunset drive,perhaps sighting cheetahs, gemsbok or a flock of flamingos.
Enjoy a choice of activities for the final morning at thisspectacular private reserve. Set out on a game drive or a bushwalk to learn about animal trails, and seek out the smallercreatures of the bush. After lunch, fly to Windhoek andtransfer to your hotel. The remainder of the evening is atyour leisure.
After breakfast, privately transfer to the airport for yourdeparting flight.
