Day 4 WASHINGTON DC–WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIAPennsylvania’s Past & Present Journey further north to Williamsport, as the landscape in Pennsylvania changes from rolling hills and farms to scenic river views, exposed rock formations and large sycamore trees in the Tioga State Forest. Today the lumber barons are long gone but their Victorian mansions still stand, and the town has traded lumber for America’s favorite pastime, baseball. (B)

FREEDOM ROAD Williamsport was an important point in the Underground Railroad. In 1867, Frederick Douglass spoke to a crowd at The Doebler House, a hotel that possibly worked with the Underground Railroad, housing people as they moved north. The Freedom Road area offered caves in wooded areas, barns, secret hiding places, and the friends and family of Daniel Hughes discreetly provided shelter, food, and assistance to people traveling north to freedom.
Day 5 WILLIAMSPORT–NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIOOnward to Canada! Travel north through the rolling Appalachian Mountains and enter New York State. Cross the border into Canada for magnificent Niagara Falls. Enjoy an included dinner this evening in Niagara Falls. (B,D)

Day 6 NIAGARA FALLS–TORONTOTaking the Plunge Board a Niagara Falls sightseeing cruise for a thrilling boat ride to view the thundering falls from river level. Later, drive around the “Golden Horseshoe” of Lake Ontario and through vineyards and rich farmlands to Toronto. Tonight is free. You may wish to join an optional outing to visit the top of the famous CN Tower for great views of Toronto’s harbor and skyline while enjoying dinner. (B)

NATURAL WONDERS The famous natural wonder of Niagara Falls consists of three massive waterfalls – American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls – plummeting from the southern end of Niagara Gorge. Spanning the border between Canada’s Ontario and America’s New York State, the largest of the falls is Horseshoe Falls – also known as the Canadian Falls –which straddles the border of both countries. Day 7 TORONTO–OTTAWA Oh, Canada! Take a sightseeing tour of Toronto with a Local Guide. One of the world's most famous travel destinations, Niagara Falls offers a combination of natural beauty and entertainment that has inspired visitors since the 19th century.
The impressive 170-ft-/53-m-high Horseshoe Falls on the Canada side and romantic, mist-filled Bridal Veil Falls in the U.S. stand as bookends to the international border. These thundering examples of nature's majesty are located about 80 mi/130 km south of Toronto and 23 mi/37 km north of Buffalo, NY. The Fallsview Casino Resort, one of Canada's largest casinos with 200,000 sq ft/18,580 sq m of games of chance, looms over the famous falls. Newlyweds place their bets on a happily married life every day in local churches and hotels.
The area can be seen in a day, but we recommend an overnight stay to view the falls and rapids under different lighting conditions and from both sides of the border (be sure to take along your passport).
