Day 2: Mount Norquay Chairlift Ride & Leisure Time in BanffTrade the crowds for a perspective on Banff that few summer visitors ever see. A 15-minute open-air chairlift ride carries you above the valley, revealing sweeping views of the town of Banff, the Spray and Bow Valleys, and the jagged silhouette of Mount Rundle. It's an unhurried and scenic way to experience the mountains from a different angle. At the summit, the Cliff House Bistro invites you to rest over a snack, a satisfying meal, or a well-earned craft brew or glass of wine; relax and let the scenery do the rest. Please note, private transfers to and from your accommodations are not included, however, a complimentary shuttle service is available from select locations in Banff.With the mountains as a backdrop, consider enjoying your down time in this beautiful town with a morning or afternoon stroll along Banff Avenue, which invites unhurried exploration. Here you can browse local boutiques, duck into galleries, or settle into a cafe for a warm bite or drink. A stop at the Banff Park Museum National Historic Site makes for an interesting and informative visit, while in the evening hours, the town punches above its weight on the dining front. A reservation at one of the towns many atmospheric restaurants like Farm & Fire, Good Folk or Brazen, is highly recommended, as is a drink at one of the many cocktail bars or craft breweries.
Day 3: Cowboy Cookout with Wagon Ride near Bow RiverPerfect for families of all ages, this experience begins with a relaxing wagon ride begins along the scenic Bow River in search of wildlife including ground squirrels, porcupines and beavers often found in the marsh and meadows. Midway through the ride, you'll arrive at "3 Mile" to enjoy genuine Western hospitality and some tasty comfort food including steak cooked to order, baked potatoes, cowboy baked beans and Caesar salad. But before digging in, work up an appetite with a few Western-style games, like lassoing and horseshoes. This adventure is ideal for families, as it provides an opportunity for horseback riders to meet up with those who have taken the wagon ride at "3 Mile Cabin" to share and enjoy together the barbeque cowboy feast (dinner departures only). After your meal, the wagon continues to the base of Sulphur Mountain to take in the incredible views before returning to the stables. Nestled deep within the Rockies, Minnewanka is one of the most dramatic and storied lakes in the Canadian Rockies, and its rugged shoreline and mountain backdrop offers spectacular scenery at every turn. Once at the top, interpretive trails lead along the ridge for globetrotters who want to stretch their legs and take it all in at their own pace. When you're ready, two excellent summit restaurants await; the perfect reward after time spent at altitude.
