African Travel: Namibia Desert Escape
Day 1 Arrive Windhoek, Namibia
Touch down in Namibia’s capital and transfer to your hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 2 Windhoek / Sossusvlei
Take flight to Sossusvlei, and a chic desert retreat from which to explore the untamed beauty of the Namib Desert. You can’t get much closer to the renowned dunes of Sossusvlei and the evocative panoramas of Dead Vlei than when you are staying at Little Kulala. One of the greatest concentrations of desert elephants can be found, along with Hartmann’s zebras, oryx, giraffes, springboks lion sand brown hyenas, and a unique population of protected desert adapted lion.

Day 3 Sossusvlei
This morning, set out on an optional hot air balloon adventure over the Namib Sand Sea, followed by a celebratory champagne breakfast (additional cost). The vast, open dune fields beckon, offering both thrilling adventures and quiet moments of solitude. Later, explore Sossusvlei, with the opportunity to climb Big Daddy, one of the tallest sand dunes in the world.

Day 4 Sossusvlei
Hike through Sesriem Canyon with a breathtaking perspective on the gorge. Take in the majestic landscapes while riding an electric-powered fat bike. After dark, discover another realm of the Namib. Learn about the incredible formations of the stars and planets under the clear night sky. Enjoy a sleep-out under millions of stars on the deck of your suite.

Day 5 Sossusvlei / Damaraland
Fly to Damaraland and set off with your guide to explore this miraculous ecosystem marked by its minimalist beauty and wealth of arid-adapted wildlife. At the end of the day, relax on your deck and take in the vistas of the surrounding desert and mountains.

Day 6 Damaraland
Follow free-ranging populations of critically endangered desert- adapted black rhino across the Damaraland plains, and Going Green while Saving Rhinos at this classic eco-friendly tented camp. This region is recognized for having the largest free-roaming black rhino population in Africa, and on safari you will learn about the exciting programs supporting wildlife conservation. In the evening, dine beneath the thatched roof of the outdoor boma and gather around the fire to share your day’s adventures.

Day 7 Damaraland / Hoanib Valley
Arrive at Wilderness Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp, a remote haven in the Kunene Region. Settle into your elegant tented suite and absorb the vast desert views. In the afternoon, head out on a relaxed game drive, where desert-adapted elephants, giraffes, and oryx may appear against the stark landscape. The day winds down with sundowners on the dunes and a starlit dinner beneath Namibia’s legendary night skies.

Day 8 Hoanib Valley
The day opens to possibility—perhaps a scenic journey toward the Skeleton Coast, where immense dunes tumble into the Atlantic and shipwrecks mark the meeting of land and sea. Or, spend unhurried hours closer to camp, joining researchers to learn about lions, brown hyenas, and other remarkable survivors of this arid landscape. However you choose to explore, the pace is unhurried, the experiences deeply rewarding, and the evening ends around the fire, wrapped in the desert’s vast and echoing silence.

Day 9 Hoanib Valley / Depart
