Anuradha is a doctor by profession who is immensely passionate about cooking - she says her medical profession is purely incidental! She loves anything creative, from art, music, cooking and gardening to decorating. This creativity is reflected in the way she decorates her home and was passed down to her daughter Nrithya, who is a talented food photographer. Anuradha has been enthusiastic about cooking for as long as she can remember and loves to experiment with new ingredients. She first learned to cook from her mother and grandmother and inherited some of her favorite family recipes from them. A multi-talented woman, in addition to her cooking and baking skills, she also sings and is an accomplished artist, in addition to speaking five regional languages, other than English - Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. You will be welcomed by Anuradha and her daughter Nrithya into their beautiful home. While you sip on a welcome drink, Anuradha will give you an explanation of Mudaliar cuisine, customs and even the science behind some of her Mudaliar recipes and ingredients. Then enjoy a one-hour demonstration in which Anuradha will show you how to prepare 1-2 of the dishes you will be eating later. Please note that this is a cooking demonstration and not a hands-on cooking class. After the demonstration, sit down together to enjoy your home-cooked meal. Your menu might include dishes such as vazhaippoo vadai (plantain-flower lentil fritter), thitheepu idiyappam (sweetened rice vermicelli), thakkali rasam (spicy lentil broth), uralakkazhangu perattal (sautéed potatoes seasoned with field beans and dill), badam kozhi kuzhambu (almond-based chicken curry), or vendhiya keerai era varuval (prawn in fenugreek greens) - all recipes from her treasured collection made with the finest seasonal produce. The meal will end with a sweet dessert and you will walk away with new skills and memories to last a lifetime.
