It was his wife, Caroline Churchill, who provided the company with its name. Churchill's is today positioned in the industry as a high-quality boutique Port and Douro Wine Company, specializing in premium Port and Douro Wine categories. Founded in the earliest 19th the Cockburn’s & Co family built themselves a remarkable reputation for fine Vintage Port. The records at the London auction houses show that in the early twentieth century, Cockburn’s Vintage Ports commanded the highest prices of any Port house. There you will have the unique opportunity to assist the coopers working real life on the barrels. Indulge in a premium lectured wine tasting including t Cockburn’s Special Reserve, Cockburn’s 20 Years Old Tawny and Cockburn’s Vintage 2007.

This Wine Estate is mentioned for the first time in a document dated April 1738, where it is referred to as "the Pacheca" because it was owned by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. However, it was only in 1903 that Dom José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to develop his interest in oenology, bought the property and began to devote to the winemaking business.
