In vibrant Soweto, murals line bustling streets and enterprising communities have been transformed into hubs of culture and creativity. Visit the Hector Pieterson Museum, a poignant reminder of the 1976 uprising; Vilakazi Street, former home of Nobel Prize winners Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu; and the Apartheid Museum, a moving look at the country’s history of racial discrimination.
