Jackson, WY

Waterton Lakes
Waterton Lakes National Park is a unique tableau of nature. Here, at the southwestern point in Alberta, along the United States border, craggy mountains meet true prairie grassland. Buffalo roamed this land as much as 10,000 years ago. Here you'll find some of the oldest rock in Canada's Rocky Mountains and Upper Waterton Lake, the deepest lake in the Canadian Rockies. Across the border from Waterton Lakes, these majestic peaks define Glacier National Park in Montana. In this pristine place, two nations co-operate to let Nature come first.
Helena, MT

Helena, the state capital located 225 mi/360 km northwest of Billings, began in the 1860s as a gold-rush boomtown.

Today, it's home to the old Queen Anne-style governor's mansion, the Greek Renaissance-style state Capitol (with a dome of copper mined in Montana) and The Cathedral of St. Helena, which is an imposing part of the city's architectural history.

Last Chance Gulch, the historic downtown's walking mall, offers a wide range of art galleries, shops, restaurants, music and craft fairs (in the summer months). Great Northern Town Center in north downtown features a beautiful carousel and ice-cream parlor, a children's science center (Exploration Works) and great dining opportunities.

Also downtown, you'll find the Holter Museum of Art, with new shows every six weeks. The Grandstreet Theater presents classic and modern plays, and The Montana Shakespeare Company holds outdoor shows in Performance Square.

Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City's family oriented culture makes it a perfect getaway destination. The city offers a variety of attractions, amusement centers, and unique attractions & activities to please children of all ages. Salt Lake is also recognized as one of the best ski areas in the United States with ten major ski resorts, seven cross country areas, and the nation's only recreational ski jumping complex, all with one hour of downtown Salt Lake. It's an ideal place for a memorable winter vacation. Delight in animal antics and winged wonders. Glide round an outdoor skating rink downtown. Travel back in time at an authentic pioneer village or trace family roots amid the world's largest collections of genealogical data. Experience a multimedia star show. Dig up facts about dinosaurs, history, or mining.
Calgary
This modern cosmopolitan city of Calgary was once home to Blackfoot Indians for at least hundreds of years. Fort Calgary came into existence as a Northwest Mounted Police settlement in 1875, and Canadian Pacific Railway arrived in 1883. With the close railway, Calgary became a transportation and meatpacking hub. The world-renowned Calgary Exhibition and Stampede has been held since 1912. A museum worth a visit is Glenbow Museum and Art Gallery. The Calgary Tower offers a first class view of Calgary area. It is a landmark symbol that became well known during the 1988 Winter Olympics - when a flame burned from the top. Besides an observation gallery, there is a revolving restaurant and cocktail lounge. Canada Olympic Park houses many facilities used for the 1988 Winter Olympics. The Olympic Hall of Fame is a museum paying tribute to the Olympics and its athletes. Heritage Park Historical Village authentically portrays life in a typical town of Canadian west prior to 1914. Calgary Zoo is one of the best in North America.
Kalispell

Located in the northwest part of the state, 420 mi/675 km northwest of Billings, Kalispell is in the heart of the Flathead Valley, a popular area for visitors. The main visitor attraction in town is the Conrad Mansion National Historic Site, the 1890s Victorian home and gardens built for Kalispell's founder.

Golf is a popular activity in the area—one of the best courses is Eagle Bend, in the nearby community of Bigfork.

Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, is 8 mi/12 km south of Kalispell. There are several state parks around the lake and one in the lake: Wild Horse Island State Park is on the lake's largest island. Bald eagles, falcons, bighorn sheep and (as its name suggests) a handful of wild horses live there. To reach the island, take a boat from Big Arm, which has its own state park.
