Day 2 Livingstone, Zambia

Day 3 Livingstone

Enjoy a full day at leisure, free to relax or take part in a range of activities. Head out on a walking safari to experience and understand African wildlife, the bush and ecosystem as a whole on foot. Perhaps visit Nakatindi Village, to view a bike shop, school and clinic supported by Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy. If you prefer, enjoy an unforgettable opportunity to walk close to rhinos, pausing on a game drive in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park to draw near the giants on foot. You may also take advantage of the activities and amenities on offer at your lodge.

Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

This morning, drive to Zimbabwe to join your private guide on an awe-inspiring exploration of Victoria Falls, which plummet 354 feet to cast up the mist that inspired their original name, Mosi-oa-Tunya (“The Smoke That Thunders”). Enjoy lunch in the town of Victoria Falls before continuing to Chobe National Park in Botswana, to settle into your lodge for unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains of the Chobe River. This afternoon, set out on a river cruise or game drive that includes the opportunity to see fine examples of elephants — a staggering 120,000 live in the park — along with impala, buffalo and possibly lions. Return to the lodge to relax in the comforts of your luxury accommodations and enjoy a freshly prepared meal. Later, drift to sleep, serenaded by the sounds of Africa beneath a blanket of stars.

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 Chobe National Park, Botswana

Set out on a game drive at sunrise to catch the animals at the start of their day, when they are most active. You may even glimpse a leopard returning from the hunt. Later, embark on a Chobe River safari cruise and watch for crocodiles and hippos, as well as families of elephants that come down to drink and play in the water. The park’s beautiful wetlands also lure a wealth of birdlife to the region and you may glimpse any of the 460 species that either live here or migrate through, including raptors, vultures and waterfowl. When you return to the lodge, revel in the comforts of your luxury accommodations and sit down to a gourmet dinner this evening.

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 Okavango Delta

Fly to a vast private concession in the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure with a choice of activities, such as a seasonal ride by mokoro (dugout canoe) on the delta or a nighttime game-viewing drive, made possible on this private reserve.

Sanctuary Baines' Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 Okavango Delta

Continue exploring the delta on your choice of activities, such as a thrilling, guided game drive in a customized 4x4 vehicle or a bush walk in the company of an armed, expert guide, on the lookout for Africa’s smaller denizens among the unique flora.

Sanctuary Baines' Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8 Okavango Delta

Fly across the Okavango Delta to your next amazing safari camp. Widely acknowledged as the “Predator Capital of the World,” this area of the Delta offers some of the most exciting game viewing in Africa and is one of the best places in Botswana to see the Big Five — lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and Cape buffalo — drawn here from surrounding regions by the lush delta. Predators include cheetahs, spotted hyenas and, at the very top of the food chain, large resident prides of lions. This afternoon, take advantage of game-viewing activities led by experienced guides or enjoy the vistas from your own private viewing deck.

Sanctuary Chief's Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 Okavango Delta

Depart on another spectacular early morning game drive. Beyond predators, the Okavango Delta draws large concentrations of elephants, buffalo, red lechwes, giraffes and impalas. In season, enjoy a mokoro ride for a rare safari opportunity across deceptively quiet marshlands alive with crocodiles, bathing hippos, birds and examples of tiny red reed frog. If you opt for an afternoon game drive, listen for a roaring lion on the hunt or spy nocturnal animals as they start out for the night. After a full day of game viewing, return to your camp to relax.

Sanctuary Chief's Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10 Johannesburg, South Africa

Fly to Johannesburg for your flight home. Relax in the Premier Lounge, compliments of A&K, before your departure.

Meals: Breakfast

Featured Destinations
Maun
The town of Maun is an eclectic mix of modern buildings and native huts. There are shopping malls, banks, restaurants, a few hotels and some happening bars. Maun is the tourism capital of Botswana and the administrative centre of Ngamiland. It is also the headquarters of numerous safari and air-charter operations.
Okavango Delta
The Okavango delta is one of the world’s largest inland water systems. It's headwaters start in Angola’s western highlands, with numerous tributaries joining to form the Cubango river, which then flows through Namibia (called the Kavango) and finally enters Botswana, where it is then called the Okavango. It is a unique ecosystem with large populations of African mammals, birds, and other animals and is one of the last totally unspoiled areas in Africa. This destination is perfect for camping, picture taking, walking safaris, and mokoro (canoe) excursions.
Chobe National Park
The Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana, has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent. Its uniqueness in the abundance of wildlife and the true African nature of the region offers a safari experience of a lifetime. The park is divided into four distinctly different eco systems: Serondela with its lush plains and dense forests in the Chobe River area in the extreme north-east; the Savuti Marsh in the west; the Linyanti Swamps in the north-west and the hot dry hinterland in between. A major feature of Chobe National Park is its elephant population currently estimated at around 120,000. The Chobe elephant are migratory, making seasonal movements from the Chobe and Linyanti rivers, where they concentrate in the dry season, to the pans in the southeast of the park, to which they disperse in the rains.
Victoria Falls
The town of Victoria Falls is a pleasant place, created for visitors. There are hiking routes and rental bicycles. There are also trinket shops, selling everything from cheap T-shirts to antique African musical instruments. Carvings of masks and animals are a tradition around the area (as is the bargaining required to purchase them for a reasonable price). The Victoria Falls Hotel, a short walk from the falls, still operates in full colonial splendor and should be seen even by those not staying there. Visit Crocodile Ranch and Craft Village - a fascinating glimpse into Zimbabwean culture. Visit Livingstone, just across the border in Zambia— more than just a tourist town and more character than Victoria Falls. Another appealing side trip is to Chobe National Park, in neighboring Botswana. Chobe is one of the finest game parks in the world.
Livingstone
Livingstone is less than 10 miles from beautiful Victoria Falls and is a delightful old colonial town named after the explorer David Livingstone. As Zambian tourism increases, more people are staying in Livingstone and new enterprises seem to be springing up. There are also many lovely lodges on the banks of the Zambezi.
Johannesburg
Johannesburg's contrasts are some of the most extreme in the world; poverty-stricken and overcrowded Alexandra is surrounded by some of the richest suburbs in South Africa, and downtown hundreds of homeless struggle to survive around the Stock Exchange. The contrast between suburb and township is mirrored nationwide, but is more extreme here because of the intense wealth of many of the suburbs, and the sheer size of the townships and their satellite squatter camps. Yet the city as a whole continues to suck in people and skills from all over the country, making it the financial, commercial and cultural powerhouse of South Africa.
