This incredible 10-day adventure begins with two days of exploration in stately (and must-see) Madrid. Then continue to the picturesque municipality of Sarria to begin your own once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage, along the final 100km of the famed Camino. Finish your walk at Santiago de Compostela's Cathedral, celebrating your accomplishment with fellow pilgrims from all over the world.

Explore Madrid's Plaza Mayor and Gran Via at your own pace, complete the last 100km of the pilgrim's trail and complete your "compostela" walk through small villages and towns, enjoy hearty and delicious Spanish food, walk into the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

G Adventures: Camino de Santiago Encompassed

Day 1: Madrid
Arrive at any time.


Day 2: Madrid
Enjoy a short orientation walk around Madrid with a free day to explore. Opt to check out the world-famous museums, do some shopping or enjoy some fantastic food.
Other options for exploring the city include the Palacio Real, Real Jardin Botánico or Escorial. Experience more nightlife at the Plaza del Dos de Mayo, in the area known as Malasaña. Taste some sangria and dance to the latest music.

Day 3: Madrid/Sarria
Travel to the charming town of Sarria by train. Take some free time to explore before meeting up with the rest of your group.


Day 4: Sarria/Portomarín
Hike from Sarria to Portomarín throughout the course of the day.
Pass through many lovely towns along the way and maybe choose to have a picnic in places such as Barbadelo, Renta or Ferreiros.

Day 5: Portomarín/Palas de Rei
Early start from Portomarin, continue walking through fantastic scenery with a rich history en route to Palas de Rei.
Walk from Portomarin to Palas de Rei. Weary pilgrims can get a jolt of caffeine in one Palas de Rey's cafes or visit some of the local shops to grab some souvenirs.

Day 6: Palas de Rei/Melide
Continue the pilgrimage westwards, walking through the lush green valleys of Galicia.
Continue walking through rural Spain. Take a break in the lively market town of Melide (454m), and try octopus, Galicia's most classic dish, in one of the many 'pulperías'.

Day 7: Melide/Arzúa
Follow the Camino from Melide to the village of Ribadiso and finally the town of Arzúa.


Day 8: Arzúa/Amenal
The Camino walk will pass through pretty woods, sleepy villages and across streams most of the day.


Day 9: Amenal/Santiago de Compostela
Enjoy a final day of walking through spectacular scenery towards the final destination.


Day 10: Santiago de Compostela
Depart at any time.

Palas de Rei
Palas de Rei is a small town in northwestern Spain located outside of Lugo. It is often visited by travelers and hikers on a religious pilgrimage on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago).
Amenal
Arzua
Arzua is a municipality in northwestern Spain that is often visited by travelers on pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James). Enjoy the friendly community and beautiful views of the historic town.
Melide
Portomarin
The new town of Portomarin is located on top of a hill, with old medieval palaces of the original Portomarin in the main square which were rescued after a flood. This medieval village was declared of cultural interest, and is a typical stop for pilgrims along the Camino de Santiago.
Sarria
Sarria is a popular starting point for pilgrims on the journey for the Camino de Santiago. Sarria boasts beautiful landscapes, a rich artistic heritage and many enjoyable leisure activities.
Santiago de Compostela
Santiago de Compostela is now considered by UNESCO to be a World Heritage Site and attracts visitors from all over the world thanks to its fantastic monuments. The town is named after the Apostle Saint James ("Santiago"), who is buried here. In 2000 Santiago de Compostela was given the title of European Cultural Capital. Santiago is certainly one of Spain's most monumental towns, with a particular architectonical style all of its own. But it is as well a town plenty of life, with one of the most famous Universities and a large number of students who guarantee youthful ambience inbetween the historical walls. The region's cuisine is of great reputation, and it is said that nowhere has better seafood than Santiago.
