Day 1 Turin
After arriving in Turin by train, you will have a private transfer to your hotel; then spend the afternoon exploring this capital of Piedmont. The House of Savoy ruled Piedmont for several hundred years. After World War II, Savoy’s King Victor Emmanuel became King of Italy. Since Piedmont is perhaps the finest food and wine region of Italy, you will find plenty of opportunities to sample the wares of the delicatessens, cafés and gelato stands that dot Turin’s streets. Vermouth was invented here, so have a martini to celebrate!

Day 3 Turin, Langhe
Your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby for a private three-hour tour of Turin. The tour aims to reveal an unusual and sometimes forgotten aspect of this city, taking you through Piazza Carlo Felice, Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Carignano until Piazza Castello. The row of arcades with their gentle activities, shop facades and products witness a past full of elegance and good taste that still resists to the change of times. Chocolate, coffee shops and historical buildings are the proof of the luxury of past times when the coffee was above all a social ritual of the growing middle class society in the 20th century. Three different tasting experiences will accompany you along the itinerary. In the afternoon, you’ll have a private transfer to your hotel in Langhe, the center for production of Barolo, Barbaresco and other famous wines.

This morning after breakfast, you will have a tour to the famous wine and truffle region around castles and vineyards, starting from Alba, the so called “Capital” of Langhe hills with its medieval towers, liberty palaces, elegant boutiques and gourmet restaurants. Visit Barolo, the town from which the “King of Wines and Wine of Kings” gets its name. The tour will continue with a visit to a traditional wine cellar with a tasting of three different wines, accompanied by cheese and salami. In the afternoon you will proceed to the old town of La Morra and its Belvedere Square. Then onto Serralunga d’Alba, a small village owing its name to its lucky position and composed of a small group of houses that span the 14th century castle and draw, with their medieval walls, the shape of a heart.

Turin

Italians say that Turin (Torino), the major city of the western Alps, seems more French than Italian. Its wide boulevards in a grid pattern and its 17th- and 18th-century architecture do bear more resemblance to Paris than Florence. A stroll about the city center provides architectural enthusiasts examples of Renaissance, baroque, turn-of-the-century and modern buildings. The city is also distinguished by miles/kilometers of 18th-century colonnades.

Turin is the capital of Piedmont, a region that even Italians consider to have the best food in Italy. Many years of French occupation have left a mark on Piedmontese cuisine, which includes more cheese dishes and sauces than is common in traditional Italian cooking. The Piedmontese are an independent-minded people who have invented their own style of cuisine that is neither French nor Italian, but incorporates the best of both. Turin also has a well-deserved international reputation for its coffee and claims to have invented chocolate, or at least gianduiotto, the delicious confection made from chocolate and hazelnut. Temptation beckons in every window, so it is best to leave your diet at home.

Langhe
Langhe is a famous area in Piedmont, famous for its landscapes, long history of wine making, cheeses and truffles.
