Upon arrival at Cheddi Jagan International Airport, collect your bags, proceed through Customs, and then make your way outside of the Arrivals Hall to meet your driver, who will be holding a sign with your name on it. Start the day with an early breakfast at a local stand with our host Chef Delven Adams, who will then take you on a tour around Bourda Market, the largest of the four major markets in Georgetown. Everything from fresh produce, bush medicines, and local culinary traditions can be found here. Selected ingredients from the market will later be featured in a cooking demonstration. Continue with a city tour that includes the National Museum, Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology, St. George’s Cathedral, Stabroek Market, and the Botanical Gardens. Finally, enjoy lunch at the locally renowned Backyard Café, where the day’s market finds are transformed into authentic Guyanese dishes. In the afternoon, a river taxi cruise along the Demerara River passes under the Harbour Bridge and offers sunset views of roosting Scarlet Ibis, herons, and egrets in the mangroves.
