G Adventures: Vietnam Family Adventure
Day 1: Hanoi
Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included.
If you have time take a walk through Hanoi's Old Quarter – a maze of streets, each one traditionally devoted to a different product or industry.
Day 2: Hanoi
Enjoy a guided cyclo tour of the Old Quarter before seeing a Water Puppet Theatre performance. Opt to visit a museum or do some shopping.
Day 3: Hanoi/Ha Long
Halong Bay cruise, cave visit and island lookout. Seafood lunch and dinner.
Day 4: Ha Long/Hu?
Continue on the cruise of Halong Bay to Man's Head Island and Tortoise Island. Visit Luon cave by small bamboo boat. Overnight train to Hue.
After an early lunch on board we head back to Hanoi with time for shopping or further sightseeing until the overnight train to Hue.
Day 5: Hu?
Guided tour of the Imperial Citadel. Opt to visit to the Royal Tombs and Tien Mu Pagoda.
We arrive in Hue mid morning and take a tour of the Imperial Citadel which also contains the Forbidden Purple City. Afterward, there is free time to explore the city.Opt to pre-book the "Hue Motorbike Tour" activity on the checkout page ahead of time, to include this optional on your tour (please note that riders must be at least 12 years old).
Day 6: Hu?/Hoi An
This morning take a scenic drive to Hoi An. After arriving enjoy free time to explore the city.
Day 7: Hoi An
Enjoy a noodle making demonstration and lunch at Oodles of Noodles, a G Adventures-supported project. Afterwards enjoy some free time to explore Hoi An.
Day 8: Hoi An
Enjoy a free day to explore. Optional activities include taking a cooking class, riverboat trip, bike riding, heading to the beach, visiting the tailors or the UNESCO World Heritage listed My Son ruins.
Day 9: Hoi An/Ho Chi Minh City
Morning flight from Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Cyclo city tour of Central Saigon.
A short flight takes us to Ho Chi Minh City, the sprawling metropolis that once was the capital of South Vietnam and remains the country’s commercial center.
Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City/Mekong Delta
Take a boat trip along the Mekong Delta, later enjoy a homestay and traditional dinner with a local family.
A boat trip through small villages shows a different side of Vietnamese life. Be amazed at how the locals rely on the Mekong for everything! We spend the night in a small village in the delta—a great chance to interact with the locals.
Day 11: Mekong Delta/Ho Chi Minh City
Return to Ho Chi Minh City; free afternoon. Option to visit War Remnants Museum, Reunification Palace, and Ben Thanh Market.
Day 12: Ho Chi Minh City
Depart at any time.

The Mekong Delta is not only one of southern Vietnams most agriculturally rich regions, but it is also one of the most beautiful. The five rivers that flow into this region keep the land green, fertile, and uniquely scenic. Visitors may visit one of the many fruit orchards that the region if famous for, and shop for unique food and gifts at the local floating markets. The city of Chau Doc also has beautiful mountain temples for visitors stop by and enjoy.

On arrival to Saigon (Nha Rong Port or Hiep Phuoc Port), drive to Ben Tre, the gateway to the Mekong Delta. Escape the high-energy city for a day of exploring sprawling rice paddies and colorful fruit farms. Arrive at the quaint An Khanh hamlet, where travelers will visit a small home factory that makes the traditional dish of sticky rice covered by coconut leaves. Meet with the owner and her hard-working team who will teach you about how they use century-old traditional methods to make this special and tasty cake. Continue this rural journey of discovery with a short drive to meet a local family in Quoi Son village, where you can sample exotic fresh fruits in the orchard of a local fruit farmer. After wandering through the lush gardens of this village, a motorboat awaits your arrival to begin a thirty-minute excursion passing peaceful scenes of countryside living. Trade boat for bicycle and enjoy a relaxing ride over easy, level terrain as you travel through narrow village lanes lined with fruit orchards and customary cottages. Here you will take auto rickshaw through the lush surroundings of the fruit farms before boarding a sampan and cruise along the narrow canals of the Mekong. End your excursion at a local farmer's house where a lunch of Mekong Delta specialties will be served before driving back to Saigon.

Tour Description:
On arrival to Saigon (Nha Rong port or Hiep Phuoc port), disembark the ship and meet your guide. Drive south to the Mekong Delta passing by lush rice paddies and fruit farms emerging alongside the highway. At the local pier, board your day cruiser and take a 30-minute ride along Ben Tre’s scenic tributaries. Your first stop is Bao Island, where you’ll visit a Coconut Garden and savor fresh coconut water. Reboard the cruiser and continue to a coconut processing operation. Next, embark on a 4-kilometer bike ride through Huu Dinh village, stopping at a brick-making factory that still uses traditional methods. Afterward, cross the river and board a sampan for a peaceful 15-minute paddle through the small canals of Ben Tre province. Arrive at Mrs. Huong’s home, where you’ll enjoy tropical fruits and honey tea in her garden. Then, take a tri-motorcycle (xe loi) ride along narrow village roads shaded by coconut palm trees. Return to your cruiser and head to Mango Home Restaurant for a delicious lunch. After lunch, take a biciycle ride through My Long Village, visit Mr. Ba Tài’s house to learn about rice wine making. End your journey with a visit to Mr. Sau Tuong, a former Vietcong soldier, and watch him and his wife make rice paper, a famous My Long village specialty. Afterward, your boat will take you back to Ben Tre city, where your car will be ready to return you to Saigon. After the visit, the boat will be waiting for you at the pier nearby to bring you back to Ben Tre city where your car will be ready to take you back to Saigon.

On arrival to the port (Chan May port) disembark and meet your guide. Then drive 1.5 hours to Hue along a scenic coastal route passing mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Upon arrival Hue, enjoy a short cyclo ride from your hotel to the Imperial Citadel at the centre of the Complex of Hue Monuments inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Enter through the towering main gate and appreciate the magnificent architecture and gardens while your guide explains the events and the intrigue surrounding the former royal court. Despite being heavily bombed during the Vietnam War, there are some incredibly well-preserved sections intact and others which are being carefully restored.
Lunch is on your own.
After lunch, drive to the Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue’s best-preserved religious monument. Built in 1601, the seven-storied tower pagoda, perched on top of on a hill overlooking the Perfume River, is one of Vietnam’s most recognizable icons.
Continue to visit the elaborate Khai Dinh Royal Tomb. Its architecture and atmosphere showcase elements of eastern art and western designs. Make a stop for a drink at Vong Canh hill which offers an amazing view of breath-taking scenery and ancient relics. The hill itself is now covered with pine trees and daisy.
Later, transfer by road back to the port to embark the ship.

Halong Bay (Hanoi)
Meaning “Bay of the Descending Dragon,” Halong Bay’s water is calm and undisturbed despite the jutting limestone mountains that soar out of the water and toward the sky. As if a tail of a Dragon plunged into the earth, the mountains are craggy, sharp, and barren, and are dotted with thousands of small caves of various depths and heights. At dusk, they all take on mysterious shades of gray, mauve and olive, lending credence to the local legends.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is often referred to as Vietnam’s jewel and the Pearl of the Orient. Located in south Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City is the country’s largest city, with more than six million people and over one million motorbikes. Under the current regime the city is once more being rebuilt. Whole blocks are disappearing, being replaced by concrete, steel and glass structures. Hoi An’s narrow lanes are ideal for a guided walking tour of its many atmospheric sights including: the old merchant houses with influences from Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese architecture; the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, first built in the 1590s by the Japanese community to link them with the Chinese quarters across the stream; the Assembly Hall of the Chaozhou Chinese Congregation with its intricate woodcarvings; and the colorful market with stalls brimming with local specialties including silk, which can be turned into fashionable garments within a day or two.

After lunch, meet with Mr. Huynh Van Trung who was born in a traditional lantern making family and learn about the silk lanterns. Silk lanterns, the simple yet colorful handicraft is now an essential part of Hoi An culture. The lantern is inspired and hand-made by local artisans and is meant to bring good fortune. It has really made a comeback thanks to an experienced man - Trung inherits valuable skills in making lanterns from his father - the well-known artisan Huynh Van Ba. With ochre-colored colonial buildings, tree-lined boulevards and scenic lakes, Hanoi is full of charm. Start the tour at the Temple of Literature, the first University for the sons of mandarins, for an overview about Hanoian culture and appreciation for ancient Vietnamese architecture. Then head to the Vietnamese Women’s Museum that offers a broad insight into Vietnam’s people including its 54 ethnic groups through a lens of women’s topics. Walk through diverse exhibitions from street vendors to marriage to family life to traditional fashion.
Lunch is on your own.
End the trip with a cyclo tour from the museum to the Old Quarter. Ride through its narrow streets to indulge yourself in the bustle and hustle of the local daily life. Later, drive back to Halong to embark the ship.
