Columbia and Snake River - excellent

Pros: Excellent cruise for "older, less active passengers". Cabins were larger than normal, staff very efficient and focused on helping passengers. Ship was very clean. Overall atmosphere was laid back and slower moving

Cons: Would not appeal to more physically active cruisers. Most guests mid 70's to late 80's age range

We are in early 70's and were in the younger age range on this cruise. However, we were looking for a slower paced, less active cruise experience and this met our needs. Excellent service from crew members, who responded to all our requests in a timely fashion and helped provide whatever we needed. Atmosphere was less formal than on European river cruises. Excursions were designed for this age group, with some more active than others. Very informative on-ship presentations about the geography and history of the places we visited were offered. We recommend this line for older travelers and booked another cruise while on board. (there were many repeat ACL travelers on this trip)

River Cruising

Pros: A very laid back trip. No rush, No lines, and Long stays in the ports. The Main dinning room was great

National Parks and Legendary Rivers

Pros: Beautiful, varied scenery, interesting and educational excursions, great food and entertainmant

Cons: The bus tour of the parks is very intense. No free time during the day for a break. Days could be from 7 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Recommended: Yes

If doing both parks and rivers, I would highly suggest doing the parks first . This was my 8th trip with American Cruise Lines and I think they do a fantastic job!!

Anchors Away

Pros: Clean new ship, excellent service, roomy cabin, good menu choices

Cons: NO Salmon on menu

I had said in survey that hooks were too high on door & wall & shower head was directed at my upper body (face)...I am under 5' By the time I returned to my cabin a few hours later both suggestions had been "fixed"!

Columbia/Snake Rivers Cruise

Pros: Riverlorian Todd Weber, Excursions, Staff, Comfort of Ship

Cons: Dinner options & service not as outstanding as prior ACL experiences.

Our experience in the Northwest was outstanding due to Todd's knowledge and personality. Our excellent excursions were enhanced by his talks. The American Song is a beautiful and very comfortable ship. The attention and friendliness of all the staff made our trip all the more enjoyable.

Excellent Staff and Ship

Pros: Staff goes above and beyond, ship is new and very nicely furnished

Cons: Fitness room could use a universal gym machine, entertainment quality was sporadic

Food was really good - chef went above and beyond to accommodate a food allergy I have, Staff was very involved in creating a warm and welcoming experience as well as quickly taking care of any needs we had.
