Disney Fantasy - Transatlantic Cruise

May

Pros: Itinerary, Adult areas (pools, bars), At-sea activities/entertainment, Premium restaurants (Palo, Remy), Disney cruise app, room attendant staff

Cons: Dining service was good but not great; Food quality was good but not at the level we have come to expect at Disney, Port days were short (5-7 hours)

Recommended: Yes

The itinerary was excellent with an initial trip to Castaway Cay and then 6 days at sea, followed by port days at Ponta Delgada, Lisbon, and Cadiz. Disembarkment was at Barcelona. Disney provided wonderful entertainment throughout the cruise and a variety of activities to fill the at-sea days with fun and relaxation (trivia, silent disco, live piano/bands, drink mixing class, cooking class). The adult areas were great and the entertainment was wonderful to sit and relax to. The port excursions through Disney were great and reasonably priced when compared to booking outside Disney. The only disappointments were with the normal dining and room service experience. I think the staff was a mix of personnel that were new-to-Disney/Fantasy and personnel that were finishing their contract and "going home" at the conclusion of our cruise. So this may have led to some inefficiencies. The quality of the food provided by room service seemed off kilter, as well. These were only minor items and the cruise experience and the ship were wonderful overall.

Only having been on one other cruise line prior, this was an amazing experience where everyone is treated with Disney royalty. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and strive to ensure you not only enjoy but LOVE your experience. Highly recommend.

first Disney cruise

January

Pros: the ship was easy to nevigate

Cons: the first island was not to my expectations

Recommended: Yes

The overall experience was more than expected we would all defiantly do another Disney cruise. The service was excellent the only thing was our second stop castaway cay we felt there weren't enough activities to do some were really expensive. Other than that, the overall cruise was great. The Alantis port was the best we wish could have had more time there.

Jan Cruise

January

Pros: Beautiful ship, very clean, lots to do

Cons: so many lines to wait it--for everything!

Recommended: Yes

Overall this was a great first cruise. I was not expecting the amount of lines we would have to wait in, for everything. At times the ship felt crowded which was overwhelming. The Disney Islands were good...we didn't spend a ton of time on them because the weather wasn't super warm and our kids were exhausted!

Great for Families

September

Pros: Ship, Entertainment

Cons: Food could be better

Recommended: Yes

We have cruised with Disney before. And we have loved all of our trips. The Fantasy is a beautiful ship. The crew is fantastic. Top notch entertainment. The food on a 7 day cruise could be a little bit better in the evenings. Animator's Palate is by far the best for kids.

Amazing!

August

Pros: incredible customer service; beautiful ship; amazing food; wonderful shows; overall incredible first Disney cruise experience

Cons: Senses spa and port stops

Recommended: Yes

We had a great time on the Disney Fantasy as our first Disney Cruise trip. From the minute you walked on until the minute you left, it was just an incredible experience. We were sad to leave. Only 2 cons... We paid for two cruise-long passes to the Senses spa and it was a bit underwhelming. I probably would not repeat that purchase. Cozumel and Cayman were a bit disappointing. We chose the "Beach Day" in Cayman and it was a very crowded beach, minimal food choices for lunch and a pain to arrive at the beach (tender boat and bus to/from the beach). If we had to do it over, we would have instead enjoyed staying on the ship both days. We will definitely go on another Disney cruise, but next time, we will choose the ship that only stops at their 2 private islands in the Bahamas. Unfortunately, our day at Castaway Cay was affected by bad weather, so we are excited to experience there another time.
