Near perfect cruising experience

April

Pros: Best staff of our 21 cruises. Innovative dining in Indulge food hall.

Cons: Pool too small

Recommended: Yes

This was the most helpful and hospitable staff we’ve ever experienced on any of our cruises. We got to the ship early and we’re able to get on in a very quick manner. Of all the cruises we’ve ever been on our bags were delivered to our cabin faster than any of them. The specialty restaurants we used were excellent. The Japanese Hasuki Teppanyaki style restaurant was wonderful. I had the best scallops and shrimp I’ve ever had. My only criticism is that as the chefs are pretty much singing throughout the whole time it got kind of loud. I really like the indulge food hall. There are a number of cuisines one can order from here, including Indian and tapas and Asian noodles and barbecue. And there is more but you can sit at one table or one place in order anything from any of these venues on a tablet and it’s delivered quickly to your table. All in all, this was a fantastic cruise. I would definitely cruise the ship or any of it sister ships again.

Great family trip

April

Pros: The staff, dinning options, overall layout of the ship, modern design of the cabins

Cons: Not to child friendly,

Recommended: Yes

Overall the layout of the ship is fantastic. There could have been a little more outdoor activities for younger kids. Aqua park is really mediocre compared to other ncl ships. Otherwise we had a great experience on the Viva.

Would not cruise again.

January

Pros: Staff amazing

Cons: Only 1 small area for smoking

Recommended: No

You couldn’t have a cocktail and have a cigarette and sit down on a lounge chair. We were cramped in a little corner of the boat on the top floor, which had no elevator too. Being handicapped the stairs were a bit much.

Good transatlantic cruise, ship OK

December

Pros: Haven and staff there were very good.

Cons: Food very bland. Public spaces too small and couldn’t get into venues for entertainment unless you got there super early

Recommended: Yes

Haven menu is the same every day. You need to ask about the special rather than the wait staff automatically telling you. Indulge food hall fun option as well as the Local. Buffet way too small and insane especially for breakfast.

May

Pros: Beautiful ship, comfortable cabin, staff are very attentive in restaurants, on deck, bars.

Cons: Mediocre food. No staff member available or with knowledge to provide information about going ashore without a shore excursion. Unorganized embarking, disembarking at ports.

Recommended: No

I was extremely unhappy that no staff member could provide information about how to get to places if I wasn't taking an excursion. Noone could (or maybe would) even tell me that there were buses or trams right outside the port at places I chose to not use an excursion. Every other ship I've ever been on, people could provide information how to get to places on your own, Excursions were sometimes not what was expected and didn't go where expected or spent very little time where expected.
