Amazing Trip to Iceland

August

Pros: Friendly crew, great service, super food, casual, large cabins

Cons: None for us but some might like more evening entertainment

Recommended: Yes

Both the cruise and the pre-cruise land tour exceeded all expectations. Iceland had been on our list for quite some time, and it did not disappoint. Loved seeing the country on a smaller cruise ship that could get into the very small ports there. Amazing service, excellent quality food, rooms were quite large for the ship size. Specialty restaurant truly outstanding.

Great Canada and Northeast cruise on star pride

October

Pros: Small ship, easy to get around in ...great cabins, helpful crew, friendly passengers, wonderful food

Cons: small elevators

Recommended: Yes

Could be difficult for people with mobility issues due to the small size of the forward elevators. I injured my knee and had to use a transport chair to get around in....difficult at times. However, the crew and fellow passengers were all wonderful at helping out! Would definitely choose WindStar again.

Star Pride Review

August

Pros: Easy to navigate the ship, recently updated and expanded, nice specialty restaurants

Cons: Small ship so entertainment is minimal at night and while at sea

Recommended: No

The Star Pride is like cruising on a large private yacht. The refurbished suites are a good size (even entry level suites), nicely decorated with large walk-in closets. The room attendants (all suites have a butler, but we hardly ever saw him) are very accommodating and keep the toiletries and mini-bar well stocked. There are numerous common areas and none are crowded. There is never a wait to dine in the main dining room. The specialty restaurants were excellent and we really enjoyed the new Grill and Cuadro 44. Be sure to make your reservations as soon as you check-in. If there is availability you can add extra nights. The ship is extremely easy to navigate. Nothing is very far from the cabins and it is not usually necessary to take the elevators. They are small but there is never a wait for them because most people walk the steps. The spa is very nice and they have a steam room and sauna, with a relaxation room, that is available to everyone at no charge. The ship is small enough to get into smaller ports, which makes for more interesting itineraries.

Cons: Beds were rather soft

Recommended: Yes

We would travel on this ship again. Music groups were talented and fun to dance to their music.

Pleasant but not exceptional cruise

September

Pros: Cabin size and amenities, itinerary

Cons: Rough seas, too little time in ports

Recommended: Yes

This was our first experience with Windstar, and I’d give it a solid “B.” The cabins (all suites) are huge and have great amenities. The staff was attentive, although I think our cabin attendant was the only one who ever learned our names (the staff knowing your names and favorite drinks is often touted in reviews). We were a little disappointed in the food; it was generally good but not exceptional. The menu was perhaps a bit ambitious for the kitchen. The southeast Canada itinerary was excellent, tho we would have liked more time in the most interesting ports and could have skipped a couple of the less interesting ones.
