Pros: beautiful spaces, clean, professionals all, wonderful chef and food/drinks (plus so many options and smaller portion sizes--everyone loved that), top notch excursion and entertainment

Cons: cost for a single is pretty high; could not use sundeck as much due to locks, pretty hectic pace--our choice though!

AMA lived up to its reputation, which I heard even from a friend who did this exact cruise over 10 years ago. Our cruise mgr Florintin, hotel mgr Ana Marie, chef, bartenders, housekeeping--ALL EXCELLENT, HARDWORKING, PLEASANT, PROFESSIONAL. Unique excursions (wine tastings, Strauss concert, Salzburg, Keukenhof tulip gardens) and on board entertainment were pluses, including the talk on the Main-Danube Canal. The Chef's table dinners were beautiful, and presentation of ALL courses the whole 2 weeks was exquisite. The Chef from Indonesia--Ali?--is great. I always felt safe, cared for and appreciated. As a single, it cost me more--about $1000 a day--but the value is still there I think with food, room, transportation, excursions all top notch.

We had an excellent time. The AmaViola is a very clean ship. Comfortable dining and lounge areas. Nice sundeck with plenty of chairs. Staterooms were very comfortable. Good beds. We would like to have more information on the timing of daily cruising and optional excursions before the cruise. This would have allowed us to manage free time better. Would like more free time. We felt that the tour guides on the optional excursions went into too much detail on history.

Pros: Excellent service, great food. We loved the staff.

Cons: The piano player they had every day was irritating to listen to. He played too many notes so the melody was almost impossible to pick out.

This was our first river cruise and I was pleasantly surprised. I appreciated the different levels they offered for the excursions. We found the fast paced one worked best for us. Everything was top of the line.

Fantastic cruise and services with Ama Viola

Pros: Ship was clean and well Maintained. Incredible guides for each city we visited, great onboard services, Amazing entertainment on board, all the staff were super friendly, remembered my name and preferences, and were quick to respond to any qestions.

Cons: The only con, and this is very minor, is the coffee in the restaurant. Not so good. However, I just used the coffee machine by the lounge which was excellent!

My husband and I can only say good things about AmaViola. The experience was exceptional on all levels. I would not hesitate to plan another trip with AmaWaterways and, in fact, am already planning another trip.

Pros: size of ship, meeting other passengers as only 136 sailed, the staff are friendly, helpful, humourous, food outstanding, excursions well designed

Cons: perhaps taking some more free time but that's not Ama's problem.

We biked one day- about 10 miles and was very doable - mostly flat terrain along The Danube- We biked in Vienna. We weren't certain if it was going to be too strenuous but we managed well. We would certainly sail with Ama again. Great blend of ages on the ship as well. From Budapest to Germany showcased a beautiful countryside with many beautiful towns, cities and landscapes

We had a wonderful experience on the AmaViola for one week with our cruise on the Danube River from Budapest to Munich. Beautiful river to cruise seeing fantastic villages, towns & cities from both the ship and shore. Many great excursions that are very well planned. The Viola crew are 1st class and very well trained and it was a pleasure getting to know these young people from all over the world.

The only thing I don't like about riverboat cruising is when another boat parks next to you so you can't see the river. It's not so bad when you are on the wharf side.

The only really bad experience was the X-Mas Market In Vienna It was so packed you couldn't move around We hit a long Catholic Holday weekend along with Christmas and the market was flooded with eastern European shoppers. Now the is not AMA''s fault but they should have known about this and warned us. All the passengers that went were upset

AmaWaterways sets the standards for river cruising. They have the top ships in the business and the service and food was unbelievable. I would rate this ship and crew a 10+. Make sure to book the land options if you want to really see and fully experience some of the cities. We booked the Romantic Danube and fell in love with the Czech Republic.

Professional service in all respects. Most tour guides knowledgable and helpful. AmaWaterways a competent cruise company. Food was good and evening meals were very good. Soups were outstanding. The cabin was small but nice. Balcony small. shower was a bit larger than others we have experienced. Television and WiFi very good. Enjoyed the smaller number of people aboard. Met some enjoyable fellow travelers.
