Wonderful Alaskan Cruise

July

Pros: Amazing room, impeccable service, wonderful food

Cons: The first stop in Klawok needs improvement

Recommended: Yes

This was a cruise we chose for our 50th wedding anniversary. It did not disappoint! It was absolutely wonderful. We were truly blessed and treated like royalty. Everything was so organized. I loved the view the most, but I played blackjack, bingo, and saw all the shows. The weather was perfect. This was a very memorable vacation. The room was cleaned 3 times a day and we were left candy, wine, and fruit. Every crew member was kind and friendly.

Anniversary tour

June

Pros: Great food, great service, fun activities

Cons: Needed a longer trip

Recommended: Yes

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with 14 of our immediate family members (nine grandchildren). We had a wonderful experience. It was the first time cruising for everyone but my husband and I. No one wanted the cruise to end, the kids had so much fun. The on board activities were perfect to keep all members of my family engaged and busy. The on shore activities were varied and adaptable to everyone’s interests. The food was so good and the waitstaff worked so hard and were so welcoming. The rooms were well appointed and so clean.

Explorer Cruise Sydney - Singapore 2025

January

Pros: Staff - Food - Other travelers - Locations

Cons: Ship wear - Tours

Recommended: Yes

This was our 3rd trip on the Explorer. The trip was outstanding. The staff from Ma, Ni, Rodney, Ardiana, Marin, Janissa, Sherwin, Norvel, Intel, Pamela, King and Prince, plus our always favorite security folks of Floraben & Rick are always outstanding, plus many more, make the entire adventure a welcoming experience. The atmosphere, fellow travelers, games and Regent points is outstanding and we really enjoy taking our Regent cruises. The only Cons are the ship is looking a bit worn in some areas like the bathrooms and material on seats etc. Really only a small issue as everything else makes up for it. The tours being included is a real plus, but some are too rushed. Not asking for longer excursions, just maybe not trying to stuff too much on a tour. While we are still, relatively speaking, young, some of the folks can't move as fast and its hard for everyone when folks are trying to cover too much ground on a tour Truly an outstanding vacation so please don't take the cons too much to heat as the pros FAR outweigh the cons! Thanks

New Zealand & Australia

January

Pros: Great ports

Cons: Unpredictable weather conditions and poor excursion communications with ship

Recommended: Yes

There was a number of excursions that were not coordinated well with local tour companies- confusing messages from boarding buses by the ship’s destination services desk. I had problems when the storm prompted a change to the excursions since Napier & Bernie tours were cancelled( new tour options provided - mixed up tour requests since the destinations coordinators appeared overwhelmed by changes). I don’t remember having these issues on a previous cruise. Maybe the pandemic changed the way business is conducted in different ports of call? Also, service in the specialty restaurants varied: Pacific Rim & Chartreuse always provided exceptional service; Prime 7 servers was hit or miss depending on where we were seated in the restaurant. Compass Rose & La Veranda also varied depending on seat location. It would Be great if service was consistent throughout the dining areas. The lounge’s and pool areas, always had very attentive servers and bar tenders.

Cruise review on RSSC Explorer

October

Pros: Ratio of crew to passengers is great, large walk-in closet with lots of storage, etc

Cons: Ship is showing its age....rusty in areas around the outside of ship, in shower. The wifi could improve

Recommended: Yes

WiFi needs improvement. I was doing my final survey and got cut off and had difficulty returning to finish the survey before the deadline. The staff at the restaurants were very professional and friendly and responded quickly to our needs. To name a few: Novie, Aprillyn, Meldin, Raymark, Reedel, Hanna, Arjay, Leilani Most of the excursions did not allow enough time to purchase souvenirs, snacks, etc. Also, the excursions should be occasionally revised because for repeat clients, it sometimes boring since we've been in them before. We also noticed that Regent is now going to northern japan, which is great!!! We loved the backstage tour, and it would be nice to be able to tour other areas of the ship as well. (Bridge, laundry area, etc)

May

Pros: Great crew, excellent food, excellent service, spacious staterooms, laundry service is the best

Cons:

Recommended: Yes

Free laundry service is the best ever! Crew was very friendly and awesome! Very polite and always smiling! Love that Krew Kapers was a little different. A couple of the other shows were just mediocre. We stayed in the Explorer Suite for the first time and noticed that the suite is showing its age; sofa, carpeting, shower for example. The walk-in closet seemed smaller than the concierge suite walk-in? Again, we didn't do our survey at the end of the cruise because internet connection was very slow. I think by going back to the paper version, you'll get more feedback . Most passengers we asked didn't do the survey due to the internet connection.

Best cruise ever!

April

Pros: Food, service, itinerary

Cons: Coffee could be better

Recommended: Yes

Truly the best cruise we’ve been on. The food was superb and the service was outstanding. Loved the all-inclusiveness of Regent Seven Seas. Also loved the included business class air, especially flying to Tokyo. The pre-cruise hotel stay and tours were perfect to help us adjust to the Tokyo time zone. No doubt Regent is a premium cruise line.

RSSC Explorer 2/7/24-2/21/2024

February

Pros: It is truly all inclusive, so there are no surprise charges unless you decide to go on a private tour, for example

Cons: It' s hard to find something wrong with all inclusive luxury. But I will say that the internet was slow which bothered a lot of people.

Recommended: No

The ports in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Phillippines are fascinating and beautiful. Learning about new cultures and religions is always a good thing to open up our minds. There were many types of tours available to experience these countries in different ways. The cabins are large and very comfortable, even at the entry level. The entertainment was outstanding and the food delicious.

Regent Seven Seas Explorer

October

Pros: Excellent overall value

Cons: Shore Excursions are lacking

The Seven Seas Explorer offers three specialty restaurants that are exquisite: Prime Seven which offers steaks, Pacific Rim which offers Asian Fusion, and Chartreuse which offers nouveaux French. The service and food quality is over the top.

Japan cruise, 2023

October

Pros: service, food, room, itinerary, guest speaker, evening shows, laundry service

Cons: wine selection, tours, evening shows

Recommended: No

The ship was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, the speaker was informative and interactive, the shows were very entertaining and the laundry service was a valuable asset. Some things Regency could improve is the wine selection. The cruise provides access to pretty much a full bar, but the selection of wines only include a couple that are of a high enough quality to drink. Many of the offerings, to me, were not enjoyable. The evening shows were very good, but they started at 9:30 pm. They ended very late, especially if you had a morning excursion. Suggest a 8:30 pm or maybe even a 9:00 pm start. The tour guides fell short, especially when there was a 1 hr or 1-1/2 hr drive to your destination. Limited information, limited ability to communicate in understandable english. Most of the destinations had printed material once you arrived that would have been very helpful and useful if distributed to the passengers on the bus during the drive out from the ship. Also, the tour guides did not use "whispers" to communicate when on tour, so if you weren't standing next to the guide, you had no idea what they were saying. You were pretty much dropped off and left to figure out everything on your own. One exception, our particular tour guide in S. Korea (Helena) was EXCELLENT.

Regent Experience

September

Pros: Ship is elegant and beautiful throughout

Cons: Food was inconsistent and shore excursions not well planned for the demographic of the ship's passengers.

Recommended: Yes

The description of the excursions that was presented on-line was wrong and not correctly described by on-board staff to make it clear just how difficult some of the excursions were. Cooking classes were exceptional. Breakfast food portions in the main dining room were very small and the service was inconsistent. Best restaurant was Chartreuse where food was excellent, and service was outstanding.

Alaska's Inside Passage

August

Pros: our first time on ship was comfortable in size & design. Staff & crew were friendly, knowledgeable, & helpful. Steward, waitresses, & waiters & maitre'ds were attentive & helpful too. Food was delicious in all public areas as well as specialty restaurants. Able to enjoy lunch at 2 specialty restaurants. Shore excursions were enjoyable & enriching.

Cons: There was no tour of ship or even a video about different areas. Map was helpful. Would liked overview of ports of call & excursions listed.

Recommended: Yes

The week of Inside Passage Cruise to Alaska was awesome. Ports of call were enjoyable & unique in their own way. Enjoyed the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, Salmon bake, crab fest & Alaskan wildlife. Tour guides in each port were informative & "experts" in their field. Our stay in Juneau was short; could hv shortened stay in Skagway. However, realize & understand the size & scope of Alaska so Capt knows best. Hopefully, will be able to return to revisit Alaska & explore more of "last frontier"! MAHALO & ALOHA to crew & staff of Seven Seas Explorer for many memorable memories.

Explorer to Alaska

July

Pros: Staff, shore excursions, food, lectures, evening entertainment/shows, cabin quality

Cons: Internet and better selection of complementary wines

Recommended: No

The service level is fantastic, the evening shows were high quality for this size of ship, the cabins are spacious and luxurious, the spa is excellent and large, and the food is some of the best I've had at sea. In addition, the shore excursions were well-organized and were all high quality. Additional praise must be given to the onboard lecturer as well. I'm not normally one for onboard lectures, but I was absolutely captivated by his presentation on humpback whales and loved his commentary over the loudspeaker when we went to Hubbard Glacier. Negatives are rare, but the main thing that could use some improvement is the "complementary" wifi. Only one device can use it at a time (Concierge categories and higher get 4 devices) through a single log-in per cabin and the speed/quality is not acceptable for most activities, especially not work. Thankfully, you can upgrade the speed for $10 extra per day, but paying for an extra device would be quite expensive. The only other area of improvement was in the complementary wine selection. It was hit and miss. There were 2-3 wines I liked, but the rest left a bit to be desired. Considering the top shelf spirits included, you expect a little more investment in the wine selection. To their credit, the wines offered are still better than many other cruise lines, but it could still be improved considering the price point of the cruise line.

Alaska Cruise

June

Pros: Staff, ship, excursions, most dining

Cons: Transfers, Compass Rose dining

Recommended: Yes

Both transfers were problematic. Fairbanks hotel couldn't locate our bags for several hours after they arrived in the hotel. Inadequate staff and no one knew what was going on. On reaching transfer location in Vancouver we were told we had to walk to our hotel with all our baggage which we did. Had three poor meals at the Compass Rose. Food over cooked and tough (pork sent back and replacement was unchewable). All meals at other venues excellent

Seems brand new

June

Pros: Beautiful ship, excellent food and entertainment, spacious cabins.

Cons: Spotty service at times

Recommended: No

The specialty restaurants were excellent and the service was excellent as well. I thought the ship did a great job with helping people, that didn't have advance reservation get reservations. The service in the main dining room was also excellent and the menu was expansive, so almost anything you might want was on there. The only place that I thought was not up to par was the buffet and sometimes the grill. The service was spotty, even for coming around with coffee in the morning at the buffet. I was impressed with the variety of the entertainment each night and thought it was very good for a ship this size. Shore excursions were lead by young people that were very passionate about Alaska, and nature. I would have liked to see someone from Regent on each excursion, just to have an extra layer of back up for anything that might happen. The public rooms and the dining venues were all lovely and so well appointed. One thing I learned and would definitely advise clients, is that days at sea, you can check the daily bulletin and at least 1 specialty restaurant is open for lunch. Senior staff were all excellent, cruise director, head concierges, assistant purser, Food and beverage manager, etc. All helpful and took the time to meet with me. There was a language problem with 1 of the front desk people, during the cruise. She was hard to understand and told some people that they would not take their luggage at the end of the cruise they would have to move it by themselves.

Alaska on SS Explorer

June

Pros: Beautiful Elegant Attentive Delicious

Cons: Logistics

Recommended: Yes

Traveling with Regent SS Explorer to Alaska in June 2023 was fabulous! Our Consiere suite was plush and comfortable with a large walk in closet and balcony, and the 2 sink bathroom with shower and tub was top quality!! The bed/linens were so very comfortable! The crew was amazing and worked so hard to make sure our every need was met! Always smiling and polite!! Food was devine and delicious as we were able to try new tastes/experiences that we ordinarily would not order!! There was always something fun to experience for entertainment- trivia, movie, bingo, bag toss, nightly shows, casino fun!! Our ports and excursions were top quality: Taku Lodge Seaplane Adventure, White Pass Rail Excursion, Lumber Jack Show, Gondola Ride!! The ship was very clean and the crew was constantly working to keep everything sparkling and fresh!! Would recommend only a few areas for improvement:: improvement on pick-up at the airport as we -and another group -were overlooked due to later arrival (Regent scheduled air reservation); logistics with port transportation as the ship docks outside center city ; improved/longer hours for Destination Desk on ship as 8-11a and 5-7 p was not enough; WiFi network needs improvement. Overall, fabulous trip with Regent SS Explorer and I would recommend this ship/trip to all that demand a little MORE when they TRAVEL!!!!! ;)

Sushi, Sake, and Shimizu

April

Pros: Excellent service, food, and cleanliness of ship.

Cons: More variety needed in boutiques; better entertainment

Recommended: Yes

It was difficult for us to use our shipboard credits in the boutiques, as there's not much variety for the "younger" passengers, especially in the clothing department. MOST of the excursions seemed too "rushed", and there was very little (if not any) time to do souvenir shopping. Some of the city tour guides were difficult to understand because of their strong accents. It would be nice to have food that goes with the area we are cruising.....i.e. more japanese food for the Japan cruises, Mediterranean food for the Mediterranean cruises, etc. That would be one way of enjoying the different types of food while onboard the ship, as we hardly have any time to check out the food in the port cities. Loved that we met some of the same crew members from another cruise! It felt like we had "family" onboard! We befriended more crew members, hoping to see them on our next cruises! Totally loved the complimentary laundry Service! That's a big PLUS when we tell our friends about it! It makes it much easier to pack for the cruise, knowing you won't have to take so many suitcases.

Pros and Cons of Sushi, Sake, & Shimizu Cruise

March

Pros: Great food, excellent staff!

Cons: Not given enough time at the sites on our excursions.

Recommended: Yes

During the first few days, we were not given enough time to visit the sites we were taken to. It got better as the days went on. However, in the Post Stay in Tokyo, we were again rushed through the visits. It seemed like I didn't have time to stop and take photos ... just had to keep walking to keep up with the guide.

As good as ever if not better

October

Pros: Staff, Room, Entertainment was the best I have seen in quite a long time, Tour Options, Extensive 'included' Wine List, Mgmt

Cons: No staff in the gym, they do not offer 'slow walker' tours so you can get bogged down on an adventure tour with someone with a cane/walker/boot on.

Recommended: Yes

Our entire trip was seamless. Staff onboard was helpful and friendly, hard goods were in perfect shape, meals in the Compass Rose & the Main Dining room were just as good as any of the specialty dining rooms. We enjoyed a wide variety of tours but many times were slowed down significantly (to the point of being an hour or more late for a return) due to travelers with walking difficulties going on fast paced or challenging climbing tours.

Better than ever!

October

Pros: Entertainment, Staff, Dining, Wine List

Cons: Precruise hotel communications

Recommended: Yes

Everything that Regent Seven Seas can control was outstanding! The Explorer is in great shape with team obviously polishing, cleaning, and repairing daily. The wine list seems to have been upgraded since our last cruise in 2019 so we didn't bother using our shipboard credit for additional wines. The food quality & presentation was 5 Star! Smiles were on every team member's face and they went out of their way to assist. I typically do not care for the evening shows but the entertainment staff and presentation was so good that we went night after night! There were missed precruise hotel staff & communications but that worked out in the end. Shore excursions continue to run longer than expected sometimes due to traffic and sometimes due to guests selecting excursions that were beyond their activity level which we are seeing more and more. Postcruise touring with Regent was spot on!

5 Star Luxury Experience

September

Pros: Exceptionally high level of service, great attention to detail. Superb dining experience in all specialty restaurants. Embarking and disembarking was very easy and uncomplicated.

Cons: Port departures generally too early. Front desk reception was a bit abrasive. Quality of entertainment inconsistent. Limited room service menu. A lot of new crew members - some still learning but very eager to please

Recommended: No

No question the ship is in a league of its own. Sailing was about 75% occupancy. Excellent and friendly service. There were about 5 crew members from Crystal now working onboard. They were very excited to be a part of Regent with no intention to return to Crystal 2.0.

Just short of being Fabulous

September

Pros: Ship, Crew, Activities/Excursions

Cons: Food & Internet Service

Recommended: Yes

Regent claims to be the most luxurious ship afloat and in many respects, it may well be. The cabin accommodations are very comfortable. The entire crew behaved professional and courteous. And the numerous shore excursions were well managed, interesting and informative. I think my disappointment was the result of Regent over hyping their cruise experience. The food was maybe better than most but not exceptional. For such a small amount of money, they could afford to enhance their salad selection, sauce preparations, and portions. Often, meals seemed "institutional". The internet was weak and spotty and often non existent- even when in port. The audio from the cabin tv was so bad we had to turn it off. My complaints were met with deaf ear.

Regent Explorer Review

February

Pros: Service, Food, Crew, Entertainment ,

Cons: - Shore excursions

Recommended: No

I had a great time on the Explorer and found the crew and ship to be exceptional. The ship itself is beautiful, impeccably clean, and maintained in perfect condition Checking-in was easy and flawless - Regent has the covid testing down to a science. I was in an F2 category (Superior Category) The Superior Suite bathroom has two large sinks, a shower and separate tub. The stateroom was perfectly and spotlessly maintained. The food was excellent. Prime 7 and Compass Rose were my favorites . The most impressive part of dining throughout the ship was the service...simply outstanding.. I was addressed by name by the crew members. Regent's crew make their guests feel extremely valued and welcome. The entertainment was excellent, Regent has really improved their entertainment. The Broadway production shows were my favoritem. Regent's crew makes it's guest feel like family -

Barcelona - Lisbon

November

Pros: Excellent food and amenities on the Explorer

Cons: Service was marginal when staff changed during different times throughout the duration of the cruise

Recommended: Yes

WiFi Services should be offered for the entire duration of the cruise. Unclear why WiFi was stopped at 6am on the day of disembarkation. Everyone was required to leave by 8am on disembarkation day , so having WiFi services until 8am would be a reasonable service offered to all cruise passengers. Also, credits earned for playing games should be easily redeemed and not have to play the “wait in line for an hour” game...then not be able to get the correct shirt size or items requested after the aggregation of standing in a long line. There are more efficient ways to redeem game points—filling out a form and picking up items before the day of disembarkation. Also, I experienced a noticeable decline in service received as the cruise came to an end...this should not be the case since the cruise ships prides itself on its services (i. e. at the beginning of the cruise room maintenance were much attentive to items needed in the cabin; as time went on, toiletries had to be requested more regularly.)

October

Pros: All-inclusive plan; smaller ships with 700-750 passengers; wonderful service, food and entertainment

Cons: It is a bit pricey but truly you get good value for your money.

Our experience on Regent (two cruises to date) has been outstanding. We opted for a Concierge level cabin on our last cruise and this included free business class flights to and from Europe and one free night at an elegant hotel in Venice pre-cruise . All transfers to and from the airport, ship, hotels were efficient and easy. Embarkation and disembarkation were handled smoothly. The staff and crew are excellent. I just can't say enough good things about this cruise line.

Cons: Not enough time to go shopping! Excursions kept me very busy, if you have to tender in, it may take a bit longer, so tour would end later.

Recommended: Yes

Loved everything about the ship. Top notch entertainment, singers and dancers were also in charge of running the many games, they were very personable and fun. Lots of excursions, some ran a little longer than noted. The ship itself is so beautiful and elegant and easy to navigate.

Trip to Caribbean

February

Pros: Service, Personnel, great mochas, entertainment great

Cons: Beds, Ports,

Recommended: Yes

Great cruise A couple small items if you want to know: Beds are twins put together and crack down the middle of bed is uncomfortable. Side dishes had no flavor to me. Like potato salad, cole slaw, etc. Service Superb! Great staff who remember your preferences, cater to your every whim! Can't hear the tour guides real well. Would love to have audio equipment.

Regent's new ship the Explorer

October

Pros: Lots of room for all passengers in all the restaurants and public areas

Cons: The specialty restaurants are sold out very quickly

Recommended: Yes

This is a very nice ship. We have sailed on her twice and thoroughly enjoyed both cruises. The ship is quiet and spacious. The cabins are very nicely decorated. The beds are very comfortable. We have sailed on all the Regent ships. Like the other ships the crew on the Explorer is excellent. The service from the cabin to the dining room is wonderful. We especially like the dinner menus. There is great food for all tastes.

British Isles cruise September 2017

September

Pros: cabin design, cabin storage space, public art, specialty restaurants

Cons: food only average to good, not great; coffee bar service poor; afternoon tea service average

Recommended: Yes

We were very impressed with the ship itself as it is beautifully appointed in and out. The cabin was spectacular with more storage space than we needed, excellent walk-in closet and fabulous bathroom. The food in Prime 7 and Chartreuse was good but not excellent and the food in Sette Mari and La Veranda was variable. Breakfast in La Veranda was very hit and miss with some poor service and overcrowding. The excursions were somewhat disorganized with not enough time allowed to visit the Titanic Museum or Chester or Holyrood House. There was no manicurist for the entire voyage. While the shows in the Constellation Theatre were good to very good the music in the Meridian Lounge and the Explorer Lounge was too loud. The Regent dancers and singers were excellent as was the choreography. The lectures were interesting but the speaker was quite dull.

Highs and Lows

September

Pros: Excellent Food; Excellent staterooms; Intro to many coastal cities NW France and Spain which were very nice

Cons: Weak WiFi; Almost all tours without headsets so very hard to hear guides; Time available for many locations too short; provided meals on some excursions mostly not good

Recommended: Yes

Suggest some stops should have been longer - very rushed port schedules resulting in very rushed tours in some cases. If you're into enjoying essentially unlimited wines/drinks, good choice. A bit wasted on us (scant drinkers).

Lovely ship even nicer crew!

September

Pros: The organization, efficiency for coming and going is spot on. The crew, as always, gracious and helpful, Sonja in the Explorer Lounge actually found the tiny back to the earring that I lost and brought it to me while we were dining in the Compass Rose. Bathrooms are gorgeous, great layout and spacious. Closets and drawers for clothing were plentiful, nothing lacking in stateroom.

Cons: Some of the design on the ship seemed to be very disconnected, not the staterooms but the common areas. The artwork was very dark and though the significance of a piece of art is subjective, I saw it as very unpleasant to look at.

Recommended: Yes

Beatles dance night under the chandelier was great, the entertainment crew really contributed to a fun time. With all the specialty restaurants to choose from my favorite is still Compass Rose, always have a great meal there.

Seven Seas Explorer

May

Pros: Assistant purser, Alwyn and F&B Manager Daniela were extremely helpful and accommodating

Cons: Rude service in La Veranda. Category H is smaller than the H on the other three ships and is a disappointment. Category G is also a disappointment relative to the Cat G on the other three ships.

Recommended: No

The quality of the dining has improved greatly vs Regent's other three ships. Service in the dining rooms has always been lacking on Regent, and while the dining service is improved on the Explorer, much continued improvement is needed. Dining room service levels is a consistent complaint that we receive from our Regent clients. Show entertainment has improved meaningfully. Show entertainment has always been a shortfall of Regent, and it appears that it is improved on the Explorer.

Best ship ever

March

Pros: Service, staff, food, excursions, amenities

Cons: None

Recommended: Yes

Most luxe ship on the planet, superb amenities, awesome food in MDR (which would be a specialty restaurant on any other ship), incomparable service and staff, everyone greets you and appears to be truly happy in their work, what more can I say? This ship needs to be on your bucket list no matter the itinerary. The "Best" is often overused but not in this case...

Pros: Luxurious ship. Very good staff.

Cons: No buffet dining after 4pm. So you need to go to the dining room or the other alternative restaurants.

Recommended: No

The staff is very friendly and gracious. Some of them were from other Regent ships but also for some this was their first ship. They really started at the top!! The Compass Rose Dining Room is beautiful and the choices on the menu were plentiful. The other restaurants were also very beautiful in décor and good choices on the menu.

Awesome New Most Luxurious Ship at Sea!!!

October

Pros: The staff, food, excursions

Cons: Cabin category H suite. This is not comparable to Regent's other ships for the same category. No walk in closet, small, no storage. May be o.k. for a single traveler.

Recommended: No

This new ship offers all suites and all balconies for a total of 750 guests. There are three specialty restaurants on board. Pacific Rim, Prime 7 and Chartreuse. All which require a reservation. No worries there are two other fantastic choices for a great culinary experience. Compass Rose which is the main dining room has excellent choices and was always superb. Another great option was their Italian themed restaurant Sette Mari. Plenty of great wines to pair with all the meals too. They also have a Culinary Arts Kitchen with many different classes to sign up for. This a a first for Regent and was very popular. The production shows that we went to were very good. The Cruise Director was absolutely the best I have ever seen. He was even part of the entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed the on board Lectures. The speaker was always available for Q & A and was on many of the shore excursions which made interaction with the guests quite enjoyable. It is always exciting to experience a new ship. This just happened to be the best one that will be hard to beat.

October 12 - 21, 2016 Athens to Venice

October

Pros: Cabins are well appointed; staff in most areas courteous and helpful

Cons: Compass Rose and Sette Mari staff were lacking/not up to Regent standards

Recommended: No

I've been an avid fan of Regent since BEFORE the first ship (Diamond) sailed and have sailed on all of their ships....this ship is the most beautiful but has a few small issues that are not at all consistent with past Regent level of service.

However, all in all, it is still a fabulous product and I will continue to promote Regent.

Venice to Monte Carlo Cruise

September

Pros: Top notch Regent service; beautiful, comfortable, luxurious ship!

Cons: Ship's doctor

Recommended: Yes

Overall our experience was fantastic. This is our fifth Regent cruise and the best in terms of service from the crew (except ship's doctor) and the comfort of the ship. As always food was excellent; accommodations throughout like a five-star hotel. The SS Explorer is quite an upgrade from the Voyager, Mariner and Navigator (though it's my understanding they've been upgraded since we last sailed on them). They have learned a lot about how to make things efficient for passengers in the suites and throughout the ship. My wife had to see the ship's doctor for a bad cold. In the forms she had to complete, she listed her allergies. He prescribed an over-the-counter med with an ingredient that is one of her allergies. He should have caught that. And of course we should have checked the ingredients ourselves. She broke out into a rash. Once we identified the allergic ingredient, she discontinued taking the med and the rash cleared up. The doc should have made the connection first, however. But we consider this an anomaly in the overall Regent experience. Otherwise, all was outstanding.
