Amazing crew on the Silver Spirit!

July

Pros: interesting itinerary

Cons: none

Recommended: No

The Baltic itinerary is a great one for experienced travelers who have been to many other destinations and want to see some different locales. The small ports in countries such as Latvia and Estonia are little gems on the Baltic Sea and easily visited from the ship's pier. The crew on the Silver Spirit was remarkable - and truly made guests feel like they were special. In every department, at every turn, they ensured the voyage was a memorable one.

Nice, but the Silver Spirit isshowing its age compared to Silversea's newer ships

April

Pros: Comfortable ship, functional rooms, great service from the Silversea staff as always

Cons: Noisy, leaky ceilings, small and sometimes broken laundry facilities, old-school magnetic card door locks that frequently require rekeying, slow internet, slow TV for agenda management

Recommended: No

Still a nice ship, but waaayyyy out-of-date compared to the Silver Nova. The ship definitely is showing its age and its design is behind a bit, but comfortable overall. If I were to sail with Silversea again, I would definitely choose an itinerary served by either the Silver Nova or Silver Ray

Silversea Silver Spirit October 2024

October

Pros: Food was great and a nice variety. You have to try the Hot Stone!! Staff was exceptional and pleasant to everyone!

Cons: We did feel that a little freshening up would be nice on the interior but everything was very clean and well appointed.

Recommended: No

We were lucky enough to have experienced Cruising with Silversea aboard their lovely Silver Spirit on an 11 night journey that took us from Venice to Athens, with many stops along the way in Italy, Croatia and the Greek Islands. The staff stood out as much as the destinations! It was lovely and everyone was so attentive! You wanted for nothing and they were quiet and respectful and so sincere in everything they did. From our amazing Cabin stewards, to the Dining room and Bar attendants, to the reception staff and Shore excursion crew members, all were lovely and helpful, we could not be happier. The guests were very like minded and we made some new friends and enjoyed our time together both on the Ship as well as when we were at the Ports. We particularly enjoyed the Special talks given by experts. There was an Astronaut that spoke of his experiences, a historian that was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. I liked the 3 or 4 craft times that were scheduled and it was fun to visit with the other guests while finding our hidden talents! All in All in was a really pleasant experience and I would highly recommend to others. The Ports of call and the Shore Excursions were very well planned and organized!  We liked that there were only about 510 guests on board so it never felt crowded and just was easy to get around and no waiting in lines!   It really was a wonderful Vacation!

Silver Spirit Iceland

August

Pros: Great service

Cons: 2018 renovation

I would like the spin bikes inside. They couldn’t be used when it was cold or rocky because they were outside. The ship could probably soon use a renovation. I think it was 2018 last time it was refurbished.

British Isles

June

Pros: Amazing Crew, Superb Food, Good Entertainment

Cons: Public spaces were a bit warm

Recommended: Yes

I was fortunate to sample all of the Dining venues and enjoyed them all. SeiShin was a wonderfully delicious surprise and probably my favorite. The variety in Indochine was also wonderful. Room was very comfortable and kept spotless by our cabin steward. I did not really make use of the Butler service, except for coffee delivery on a few mornings. Entertainment crew put on several terrific shows. In addition, local acts were brought onboard. The Irish stepdancers and the Scottish Highland dancers and bagpipers were fantastic. I really enjoyed the great piano/vocalist duo in the Silver Note.

Pampered at Sea

May

Pros: Included excursions, pampered treatment, restful environment, great ports and overnight stay in Sorrento

Cons: one show per night

Recommended: No

My Mediterranean cruise on the Silver Spirit was amazing. I felt pampered from the minute I stepped on to the ship. Boarding a small cruise ship of about 600 passengers was so different than boarding a giant cruise ship. It was calm, quick and easy. Having a butler was something I never thought I would experience, but it was delightful. Shore excursions are included and we got to choose between several in each port. All our guides were wonderful and having the excursions included saved us a lot of money! Small ship cruising is definitely the way to go. Silversea gets my vote.

Namibia & South Africa

January

Pros: Silversea Cruises includes free shore excursions. The ship's complementary wines, (and wine service),were exemplary, and well-appreciated by the guests.

Cons: Only 3 Guest Entertainers for a 15-day cruise. Only four "orchestra" musicians. Too many formal and informal nights. Very sub-standard/problematic TV remote controls. Only (Silversea) ship to have ONE unisex sauna, steam room, shower (with no lockers). No stateroom night lights. No afternoon tea.

Beautiful, but not entertaining

October

Pros: Spacious rooms and delicious restaurants

Cons: Entertainment was sub-par.

Recommended: Yes

Staterooms were quite spacious with walk-in closets and bathtubs. The dining rooms were outstanding. Because of that, the specialty restaurants couldn't justify the additional charge. The shows were poorly attended, and there wasn't anything to do after dinner.

Excellent service

April

Pros: Service

Cons: Restaurant confusion

Recommended: Yes

Suites were large and well appointed, LOTS of storage. Service impeccable. I think they have too many restaurants, and they have an image problem with Indochine which was the 2nd of the 'open' (non reservation) restaurants. The decor was contemporary, not what we want for a fine dining restaurant. Nobody wanted to go there, even with great service, they wanted Atlantide. I would also like entertainment at other times of the day than 9:30 at night. The performers were wonderful. More events on board during the day would be nice, not just games. But, we had no sea days so not as much going on

Silver Spirit

December

Pros: Crew, Food

Cons: Entertainment was not up to par with other luxury lines. Bathrooms are to small. They need to add an additional sink.

Recommended: No

It is my personal opinion that the Butler is not needed. The stewardess or steward can often take care of special requests. Our stewardess forgot to leave clean towels at turn down. We had to call reception to get them delivered. It would be the Butlers job to see that those things are done for the suites following the stewardess job of cleaning and restocking items in the suite.

Back to sailing on Silver Sea

September

Pros: small intimate ports with this size ships

Cons: the nightly entertainment was .the show and after that not much to do other than the Panaroma Lounge

Recommended: No

The service onboard the ship was top notched. The food was amazing especially "The Grille" where you cook your dinner on a 500 degree stone. By day 2 most of the staff was addressing us by name and knew many of our preferences. The ship even though is one of the oldest in the fleet was well decoated and acutally looked brand new. Butler service is such a nice amenity.

Host review for Silversea/Silver Spirit

September

Pros: Great itin, excellent food, friendly staff, lovely , spacious staterooms.

Cons: Did not include shore excursions. Jackets still required for men even on informal nights.

Recommended: No

Silversea is mostly all inclusive, with included gratuities, beverages, and wifi. Dining venues I particularly like were Silver Note,( intimate supper club feel ), Atlantide,( main dining room, lots of choices ), and The Grill (cook you own food on hot rocks).

Suites were well appointed and spacious. Public spaces were lovely and understated, many outside spaces for dining and drinks as well.  Also impressive, the small Arts Cafe, for anytime light dinning, dessert, or coffee, with inside and outside seating.

One very interesting speaker, someone that previously worked at NASA and had 3 lectures on space. He was an extremely good speaker and captivated his audience.

All these things made for a great experience with excellent feedback from everyone I spoke with.

Silver Spirit is true luxury

March

Pros: Totally refurbished, attentive staff, fine dining, all-inclusive.

Cons: Group dinner service is much slower than table for two.

Recommended: Yes

The all-suite Silver Spirit is fresh with lots of light. Art-deco with cream/beige decor. Amazing crew, always nearby ready to take on any requests. Service was quick and always with a friendly smile. Suites are beautiful, well-appointed, teak verandas, mini-fridge is stocked with your personal favorite wine, liquor and soft drinks. Bathrooms have a bathtub and separate shower with fabulous huge towels. The beds are very comfortable... The pool deck is large with plenty of chairs for everyone. Good size pool, three hot tubs. Dining options are abundant. La Terazza was my favorite for dinner. Delicious pasta; also has the best lunch buffet I have ever seen with fresh salads, seafood, meat, vegetables, the works. The Grill provides personal grilling experience on the pool deck for dinner. 540 mature, well-traveled, active guests.

Silver Spirit Journey Mar 2019 5 nights

March

Pros: Outstanding Small Ship Luxury Cruising Experience

Cons: None

Recommended: No

Sailed on the Silver Spirit 5 night Caribbean, Mar, 2019 The Silver Spirit: The Ship, accommodations and space ratio is excellent. Staterooms and suites are beautifully designed. The spaciousness carries throughout the ship, it is never crowded. You can find a comfortable lounge chair by the pool, a cozy table in the cafe or the library any time. Very spacious and comfortable for the number of guests onboard. Truly a small luxury ship, with about 600 guests. The service is excellent, never intruding, and it almost seems like the staff can read your mind and anticipate your requests. Overall the Silversea Cruise Experience exceeded my expectations in many ways. The dining onboard is exceptional, with many restaurants to choose from. Once onboard the all inclusive value, of having Butler service in ALL suites - premium spirits and wines, gratuities and much more - makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable luxury cruising experience.

December

Pros: Ship size, butler service, friendly staff, many dining venues

Cons: Embarkation was late and confusing due to weather conditions. Key West, our last port was missed due to weather,

The new colors on the ship are warm taupe and grey. My suite was 853 in the new section and the loveliest stateroom I have ever stayed on a cruise ship. The bathroom was also the largest I have ever had on a cruise ship. My butler was amazing and my cabin steward was invisible but my room was always made up perfectly. There are many areas to relax and read if the pool area is not that important to you. Many specialty restaurants with only one charging a fee. The staff are polite and courteous and friendly. Silver Spirit Caribbean Voyage

November

Pros: Well appointed suites, courteous staff, food was very good .

Cons: Slow food service, slow internet (get the unlimited package), menus very similar from day to day (especially breakfast and lunch)

Recommended: No

We had a fantastic butler and suite attendant who took very good care of us during our voyage. The food was very good and we enjoyed the opportunity to dine in our suite. The Pianists in the lounges were excellent. Your clients will enjoy the intimate feel and personalized attention that is provided to guests. For those with special dietary needs such as gluten-free and veterinarian, there were very few on the menu and no indication from the wait staff that they could be specially ordered. I highly recommend that if clients are interested in using the internet, they should purchase the unlimited package. Internet is slow and will eat up time quickly. Guests need to be aware of using extra caution when getting in and out of the tender as the floor can be very slippery from the spray of the water going to/from the ship.

Silver Spirit in the Med

November

Pros: Gorgeous ship with a crew that excels in every way. Every time I sail on Silversea, there are noticeable improvements.

Cons: Boutiques featured mostly expensive jewelry and little choice otherwise. ( I was surprised at the offbeat location of the boutique.)

Recommended: No

Although I had sailed 10 times on Silversea before this cruise, I never been on the Spirit. I was amazed at how much bigger it was than the Shadow/Whisper and with how many more dining venues there were. Of course, a number of the dining rooms incur extra charges. I only experienced a few of the dining options. The Grill dinner with the hot stones was a fun and interesting experience; it was made possible on a cool evening with heat lamps. Since ours was a special  gourmet cruise, some evenings there were gala dinners cooked by chefs from a German and an Italian restaurants) in La Terrraza. (No additional cost) The usual Italian dinners served in that restaurant are good choices but not the best I have had.

This was the first time for me to have free Wi Fi, free laundry and a butler on any ship. I had always said that I wouldn't know what to do with a butler but I managed to find he was a good resource and quite helpful (although new). He somehow quietly organized our onboard experience.

Our cruise featured Alexandre Renior, great grandson of Pierre-August Renoir.  He not only talked on board ship but took a small group on a delightful l trip to Renoir's Museum in Cagnes sur Mer.  Another guest lecturer was Joe Synder, who was a wonderful speaker on the history of places we were visiting.

The shore excursions were quite varied and some quite innovative, like a truffle hunting tour from Marseilles.
