Regatta Review

April

Pros: Nice small ship, clean and easy to navigate around.

Cons: Timing in sit down restaurants is slow.

Recommended: Yes

Ship may have been short handed on help but often the dining turnaround time in the sit down restaurants was too long. Averaged 3 hours from start too finish which is too long.

Delicious cruise in Southeast Asia

April

Pros: Great service, nice accommodations, wonderful food, interesting ports

Cons: Bangkok eliminated due to earthquake damage

Recommended: Yes

We enjoyed every aspect of our cruise from embarkation to disembarkation, with one exception. That exception occurred on a tour in Thailand, and not the fault of anyone or the Regatta. Our bus broke down for an hour, in midday heat, on a busy highway, on a Thai holiday. Thankfully, we had plenty of water and a great tour guide. Because of this we arrived back at the ship too late for dinner, but room service provided. (Thank you!) This has become one of those funny vacation memories. We wish to thank the exceptional crew of the Regatta for a wonderful introduction to cruising with Oceania. Special thanks to Olga at reception, Arya and Noemi in dining, Min our steward, all the strong kids who delivered our room service, and the amazing, talented kitchen staff. Grazi!

Regatta - not up to par with other Oceania ships

February

Pros: Staff, food in specialty restaurants , ports of call , WiFi, beer/wine w/meals

Cons: Miniature bathroom, food in grand dining, terrace cafe, waves.

Recommended: No

Our 6th Oceania cruise & the 1st time we have been disappointed. We have extremely high expectations for food - which is while we choose Oceania. 1st time we have not had outstanding experience. Entertainment was so-so. Concierge veranda room ok - but bathroom was teeny tiny! Only 1 laundry room with 4 washer/dryers on entire ship. Staff is always excellent. Great new WiFi (starlink) - far superior to previous.

Overall highly satisfactory but one item of price silliness

November

Pros: Helpful, caring and polite staff, very attentive and the ship is immaculate and public spaces well maintained. Finishings and furnishings equate to a four-star hotel experience.

Cons: There was an upcharge for internet usage for more than one screen, and given the rest of the pricing, that seems excessive and penny pinching. Phone, tablet, computer, etc. What couple only has one screen in this day and age?

Recommended: Yes

Overall a very satisfactory experience. We saw things on the shore program that we would never have seen by ourselves, e.g., the International Antarctic Exploration Center and a number of wildlife excursions. Good wine tasting tours on shore supplemented by on-ship tasting experiences were very positive. Staff at all levels were found to be courteous, caring, and attentive.

Regatta West Coast

September

Pros: Convenient itinerary

Cons: Food quality, variety. Entertainment

Recommended: No

Oceania seems to have cut a lot of corners compared to the past. The quality and variety of food and entertainment was noticeably decreased. The staff worked very hard to please and they were very good but they were stretched very thin. The whole experience just wasn't what it used to be.

Regatta Feb 2024

February

Pros: Front Line staff very helpful and friendly. Middle Mgt. not so much.

Cons: Food mediocre, entertainment sub-standard, especially featured performers

Recommended: No

This was our 2nd cruise on Oceania. We were disappointed in the quality and selection of menu offerings in the main dining room. The entertainment was very dull and boring. The 2 featured/guest entertainers were awful. In speaking with fellow cruisers on this voyage, they all shared our disappointments. We all felt that Oceania is slipping in quality and service.

Pros: Smaller ship, excellent service, wonderful food and drinks

Cons: Yoga class was offered too late in the morning. Our beverage package was really not worth the money.

Alaskan Trip was Amazing

August

Pros: Captain and crew were fantastic. Smooth cruising.

Cons: N/A

Recommended: Yes

I submitted an earlier review and missed saying something about the captain and his crew. I was nervous about cruising (getting seasick) as this was my first cruise. It was smooth sailing the entire cruise. One very special thing I want to point out is the 360 degree view of the Hubbard Glacier. The captain was able to get close and turn the ship slowly for 360 degree view. I will never forget it!! The narration by the naturalist was incredible and very helpful too Thank you captain and crew!

August 2023 Alaskan Cruise

August

Pros: Excellent service from staff members, Very friendly, Nice Penthouse Suite

Cons: Spotty food performance at Specialty restaurants

Recommended: Yes

This cruise was our first in 20 years, so wasn't sure what to expect from a luxury cruise line. Where our expectations were exceeded included all levels of service on this ship, from our butler and personal room attendant to every member we encountered of this ship's staff. All were very engaging and wanted to help in any way possible. We enjoyed breakfast every morning in the Terrace Cafe. While there were many guests who did the same, the food was prepared quickly and efficiently. Almost too efficiently since some guests couldn't find tables after securing their food. We had high expectations for the specialty restaurants, Polo Grill and Toscano. However, each for different reasons, fell short. Polo Grill for being a steakhouse that served grisly steaks that were way undercooked. Medium was Medium Rare to Rare. Disappointing... Toscano had uneven performance. The first night, both our pork and veal entrees were overcooked. The second night, the lobster risotto, lasagna and dover sole were excellent! Both evenings at Toscano, the pacing of each part of the meal was very slow. The Grand Dining room was the only venue that had perfectly prepared food and great pacing. We really enjoyed performances of the string quartet! And the standout activity was cruising the Hubbarb Glacier! It's tough to be happy with all aspects of a cruise. But we have already signed up with Oceania for a European cruise next summer on a larger ship.

Our first ocean cruise

June

Pros: small ship only about 600 passengers onboard-excellent crew

Cons: On board extras were a little pricey such as Spa & Hair services.

Recommended: Yes

We picked our stateroom by the amount of sq footage it offered. It was beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and easy to maneuver in especially appreciated the large shower/ample countertop, upper cabinets and 2 drawers. The room itself had more storage than we needed so the cabin stayed clutter free. Every employee on board was friendly and helpful especially the two assigned to our cabin. We both have medical devices and our attendants got us everything we needed to use them away from home. Nothing was impossible. We totally enjoyed the dining experiences onboard and the ability to got to whichever of the 5 restaurants we felt like. One of the pleasant surprises was the tea/sandwiches/pastries served daily at 4p. We didn't discover this till the 4th day in. It was held in a large observation area up front of the ship so you could sit, sip tea and see out over the bow.

Oceania Regatta Cruise to Alaska July 2022

July

Pros: Crew/staff, Service, Cuisine, Beautiful small ship, Quiet, Not crowded.

Cons: Internet access, may feel more movement from the sea in a small ship

Recommended: Yes

Oceania delivered a fantastic experience on a 7 day cruise to Alaska. Our first with Oceania, we felt pampered but the atmosphere/dress code is more casual than some luxury ships, which we preferred. The food was phenomenal!! The staff/crew were exceptional. We would highly recommend Oceania and the Regatta. The negative comment about internet access: Internet access is "included" with each cabin but it is only for ONE DEVICE at a time. Assuming most cabins will have two passengers, it would seem internet access for each passenger should be included. Internet access for an additional device can be purchased at $25 per day. (but you must purchase all remaining days of the cruise, you cannot choose particular days when you may need it most).

Amazing cruise on the Regatta

June

Pros: Small ship, great food, attentive staff

Cons: Menus do not mention gluten free, only sugar free and plant based. Very small showers

Recommended: No

Round trip sailing from Seattle through the Inside Passage of Alaska. The weather was perfect. Seymour Narrows is beautiful and the scenery is stunning, truly a magical destination.

The ship was beautiful and staff was very friendly and accommodating. Color palette is so pleasing, warm and comfortable. The oceanview staterooms are adequate in size, however the showers are very small. The management team went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience.

The Regatta Entertainment Production Company was great, the Oceania Enrichment Speaker, Naturalist Gloeta was amazing. She was knowledgeable and entertaining with her presentations. The comedian and the magician were not very good. They needed practice after the two year break.

The Oceania shore excursions were very good, however there is not much free time before or after an excursion to explore the port on your own.

The food in all the restaurants and room service was very good. My daughter has several food allergies, the staff was very good to work with, however when the gluten free question is asked it takes a while to get the answer and it still may be incorrect as she experienced.

I highly recommend Oceania and look forward to sailing with them again.

Small ship cruising at it's best

May

Pros: Excellent food and service. Entertainment talent is exceptional.

Cons: No cons for us

Recommended: Yes

Perfect for the older crowd who value relaxation and smaller ship capacity. We love it for those reasons. Don't look for rock climbing walls or entertainment clubs for your kids. There aren't any. There is a beautiful pool, three Jacuzzis, wonderful luxury padded lounge chairs, etc. There is a putting area, shuffleboard, ping pong, and those sorts of activities. There are no huge productions shows like on the mega-ships, but several wonderful, themed shows with extremely talented singer/dancers. There is stage lighting and simple backdrops in a much smaller, more intimate theater setting. They have other talent come aboard for one or two shows. The string quartet is awesome. They perform daily at afternoon tea and before and after dinner. There are no comedians or jugglers to endure. Also, no on-board photographers always pushing a camera in your face.

Passage to Panama

October

Pros: Delicious & Varied Food

Cons: 18% Service Fee on Alcohol Beverages + Amenity Charges

Recommended: No

Just enough time to get a taste of each destination, Havana, Cartagena, Puentarenas, Corinto, Hualtuco, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas. Relaxing days at Sea worked for this full time employee, and the many retired guests seem to enjoy the scheduled activities, Guest Lectures, Bingo, Wine Tasting, Trivia/Sports (Table Tennis,Shuffleboard) Contests, Cooking Demos. The food was extraordinary, definitely the best part of the cruise, no hits and misses, all Hits! The Specialty Dining venues were surperb, the other venues wonderful. Entertainment was varied and well attended. All the Staff worked very hard, and a few were exceptional with their service. My Deluxe Oceanview Cabin was comfortable, plenty of storage and heavenly bed. Unfortunately the bathroom had no Cold Water only warm and hot. Not really a problem, however, the temp. was typically in the upper 80's and 90's, a cold shower would have been a nice respite. The small ship was the perfect way to transit the canal.

Oceania - great food, but not best value

June

Pros: Fantastic food, great wine and cognac tasting experience

Cons: waiting for buffet service

Recommended: Yes

This was my first experience with this cruise line and my experience was positive. The food was phenomenal and the small ship experience was great. However, for an almost same price point - one gets more of an all inclusive experience (drinks, gratuity, laundry) with Crystal or Silver Seas. This cruise line is more of a premier experience than the bigger companies (Royal, Celebrity, Princess, Holland, etc.), however the cost is a bit too high and should rather be somewhere in between those lines and the truly all inclusive luxury ones (such as the two mentioned prior). The interior stateroom was also a bit small.

Poor communication by management

March

Pros: Cabin steward and dining room servers were friendly & efficient.

Cons: Officers rarely seen and when seen they avoided eye contact.

The ship itself was fine. There were many delays. Two ports missed all together and two others cut short. Marina had a nearly identical itinerary. She left more than an hour after us but arrived at the next port we’ll before us. Regatta’s cruising speed is 2 knots slower than Marina which doesn’t seem like much but it makes a big difference.

December

Pros: Great food, great staff

Cons: smaller ship has more pitch and rolls in high sea states

The food was the best I have ever had on a cruise. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the upgraded forward staterooms (6000 and 6001). The upgrade gave us lots of goodies like free laundry. However the staterooms were forward end of the ship and the pitch and roll was significant.

October

Pros: Weather was great; ship met all our expectations. Rooms were very spacious.

Cons: Food consistently good; however it is always the same...need more variety and it is why we like the Red Ginger on the larger ships.

Glenda and I absolutely love the Oceania Cruise line. We shipped our luggage ahead by FED EX...probably would do Luggage Free next time. Our favorite stops: Quebec City; Portland, Maine. Did our own tours: Breakers and most importantly: The Elms Servant Tour...it a must to see how "others" lived and worked. The only rain was in Quebec City but that did not deter Glenda and Rocke...see the "Holy Door" at Notre Dame des Victories.

Cons: Food in Polo Grill and Italian restaurants horrendous-not edible.

Alaska Bound

July

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, small ship, great ports

Cons: Food fair, tiny bathrooms, limited activities

Recommended: Yes

Even though the ship was recently refurbished it felt dated. I would liken it to a country club in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was very conservative with a much older crowd. Although there were some families, it seemed that the average age was well above 65. The small size of the ship was both a pro and con. Because of the small size there were not a lot of organized activities. The activities that were available during the day often did not last longer than 45 minutes, often less. Musicians played in 45 minute sets and took a lot of breaks. Conversely, the ship never felt crowded and it was able to dock in ports not available to the larger ships. This meant less touristy activities and a more "authentic" view of life along the Alaska coast. We were disappointed in the food served in the main dining hall and buffet. I am not sure if this is because the ship's food's reputation was so great and our expectations were high or if it really was mostly just adequate. There were definitely stand out dishes and the specialty restaurants were both terrific across the board. Sadly, we only got to eat in each once. Despite my grumblings, I still had a terrific time on the cruise. Just not sure this line is for me.

Excellent service and very good food on Regatta. Amazon is interesting very wide and long. Some very small native villages with relatively poor living conditions. Overall, our experiences on the Regatta as first time cruisers was most positive. Loved our suite with the veranda, the bed was quite comfy, the closets/drawers quite spacious, always lots of hot water for showers, etc. Can't say enough good things!

Regatta

June

Pros: Great food, smaller number of passenger, good ports

Cons: Stateroom 180 sq. ft. Vs 280 on Oceana larger ship

Recommended: Yes

Overall excellent cruise and with smaller ship able to get closer to Hubbard Glacier. Also able to dock at all but one port where larger ships had to ferry from anchorage. Juneau had five cruise ships in port at one time causing very crowded conditions at Humbold Glacier. Not Oceanas fault.

Oceania Regatta Experience

November

Pros: None

Cons: Why haven't we done this before?

Recommended: Yes

I can hardly imagine a cruise in the future being able to measure up to the care and service that was part of the Oceania Regatta team. The size of the ship lent itself to an experience of individual attention and the service team made sure that this happened with positive greetings and top-flight care on all sides. We had been told from other travelers that Oceania was the best in the business, and now we are true believers. ...a great travel experience!

Would have loved to have spent more time on the Amazon with less time in the Caribbean. The Amazon experience was amazing.

Post Cruise

August

Pros: Wonderful cruise line.

Cons:

Recommended: Yes

We had the best weather going. The crew said it had rained the whole Alaska season except for our cruise. Just a little rain in Sitka, bright sunshine the rest of the time. You just can't beat the food and service on Oceania Cruise Line.

Miami to San Francisco via Panama Canal

May

Pros: Food and service

Cons: Dated formats, entertainment, shopping

Recommended: No

Great food and service, good movie selection. Very dull, dated, predictable daily activities and entertainment. Few young people, many in their 80s. The ship was dead after 10:15 pm when the evening entertainment ended, or after dinner when many retired rather than participate in the evening's entertainment offering. Very short time in ports which weren't all that great in any event. But, I went on this cruise to transit the Panama Canal and visit Cabo San Lucas, so the trip met my expectations in this respect. And it basically was a repositioning cruise. Otherwise, excursions were expensive as was internet access. There were 7 days at sea in a 17 day trip. If you like bingo, trivia, reading, watching movies, sunbathing you'll enjoy this trip. Onboard shopping was not good. One lecturer who spoke every day and was informative. Very small bathrooms even in veranda staterooms.
