Old and tired

August

Pros: Smaller ship, fewer guests, excellent service, excellent food

Cons: Rooms are small and need updated. Bathroom ridiculously small.

Recommended: No

Didn’t want to be on a mega ship so had to choose an older one. Even though it hasn’t been that long since she was refurbished the stateroom just needs serious updating. The rest of the ship is nice just had no desire to hang out in our stateroom which was listed as deluxe balcony. Nothing deluxe about it. Especially since we were traveling with a child. Always in each other’s way trying to get ready to go anywhere

Adventure of the Seas it Was

July

Pros: Beautiful weather; Smooth sailing; Nicer ship than last year's Rhapsody!

Cons: Too many people for the size of the ship; constant hounding about Specialty Dining; terrible on-board communication!

Recommended: Yes

The ports of call were terrific! We loved them all! Our excursions were mostly good, but we were not able to comment on them on the Royal Caribbean survey. The ship was in good condition. We had excellent service from our cabin stewards to our dining room hosts. Customer service was also very helpful! Concerns: The ship was 16 short of capacity and felt very crowded! There was little room in the pools (even the Solarium pool); little availability of tables anywhere to play cards etc.; narrow corridors; and 3rd passenger beds above our heads! Excursions that advertise one thing and deliver a far lesser thing. Don't tell us you're taking us on a rainforest hike when actually the trail is closed and it's really a bus trip (Puerto Rico) Royal Caribbean, you send an email a day trying to entice us to purchase beverage packages, specialty dining, internet, etc. Be done once we board! If we wanted these things we would have purchased them previous to sailing or we know where the Customer Service desk is located on-board if we happened to have changed our minds.

Relaxing vacation

January

Pros: Top notch service

Cons: Lack of food options

Recommended: Yes

This was my first time on adventures of the seas. The staff was exceptional as always. Here is an example. My son is autistic and very selective with his good choices. He found out that he likes the PBJ sandwiches that they serve through room service. No one else offers this selection on board the ship. I spoke to head waiter in the main dining room and he made the arrangements so that my son could have a PBJ sandwich every night in the dining room. My son was very excited about this.

A tired old gal

August

Pros: The staff and crew were consistently attentive and friendly. The ship was clean at all times.

Cons: She needs updating and refurbishing.

Recommended: Yes

The Casino, especially, needs a complete overhaul. Outdated machines, non functioning machines but especially it is jammed so that walking from one place to another is almost impossible. On the plus side, the new air purifiers do a great job of clearing the smoke usually found in a casino. I couldn’t detect which side was smoking as I entered, not usually the case.

Fantastic Cruise for Families, but disappointed with food.

July

Pros: Tons of family activities to do. Excellent Service.

Cons: The main dining food was not outstanding. Specialty Dining at Giavonni's Table.

Recommended: Yes

We had a fantastic time on the cruise. Our kids are 6,8, & 18 and there were a ton of activities for everyone! A big hit for our family was the Silent Disco Parties. The main consistent theme to the cruise was that the main dining food wasn't outstanding. It was decent food... but nothing spectacular. We decided to try Giovanni's Table which was a specialty dining option to see if that was any better and it was similar. Nothing outstanding. Good, but not spectacular. The waitstaff however, was amazing! Everywhere we went and ordered something (drinks, food, shops, etc.) the service we experienced was amazing. The after dinner shows were pretty good, and our favorite was the ice show. The one thing we noticed was that there were plenty of seating available and you didn't have to get there early to make sure you had a seat. As for the size of the ship... it's a smaller ship (compared to the newer Icon of the seas) and you definitely noticed it on sea days. The pools / hot tubs were packed!

Group Cruise 2024

June

Pros: Great time spent with family!

Cons: Couldn’t find our luggage in the Key Area at departure. The Key area was not well marked and directions were vague.

Recommended: Yes

The staff of the Adventure of the Seas is so incredibly friendly! I think this cruise was almost sold out but there are so many activities you never felt crowded. I am 70 and took my 10 year old Granddaughter. We had plenty to do together as well as individual activities. To my surprise she loved going to the Adventure Ocean Club on nights we didn’t have specific plans. She also participated in Karaoke for the first time and loved it. She went ice skating every chance she could and we loved the Ice Show. We also enjoyed the Dance show in the Lyric theatre and the many game shows in the Imperial lounge. It was a fantastic vacation and we made great memories.

Great Ship, Great Trip

June

Pros: Good cruise entertainment staff, lots of activities on board, good itinerary

Cons: Embarkation was messy

Recommended: Yes

Adventure was my first ship ever sailed upon so she will always have a special place in my heart. The 8 night cruise me, my family, and my friends (about 50 of us total) just completed was a wonderful vacation once we got past the embarkation area and onto the ship. Enjoyed the food in the dining room and windjammer and the activities organized by the entertainment staff were top notch as well.

Adventure of the Seas Review

June

Pros: Johnny Rockets

Cons: Rock hard beds. Very small balcony rooms. Rusted balconies. Poor quality food in the main dining rooms. Frequent loss of internet that makes the cost not worth it.

Pleasant sailing experience!

June

Pros: Great Cruise Director, Lots of activities, ship old but maintained nicely!

Cons: The entertainment is stale, lack luster. Need to bring back tribute bands and new production shows.

Recommended: Yes

Guaranteed a classic sailing experience, minimal bells and whistles.Lots of family activities but this old girl could do with a nice dry dock soon. She did seem short staffed though leading to long waits for service no matter the venue. Staff on ship was helpful when approached, and while the new HideAway beach club for adults only was pretty fantastic, how about some grilled food instead of everything fried? The staff on Coco Csy were not kind, actually a bit combative. Maybe tired? Not the nicest people on that Island for sure. Control issues to the 10th power and constantly yelling at people, a bit off putting. But the day was still fun!

Family group of 8

April

Pros: Better food than other cruise lines but did not put our group together at a table. We had to just do it ourselves and let them deal with it! Great shows, room staff and wait staff was excellent,

Cons: Worst app by far. WiFi always kicked us off, even paid WiFi was always kicking off, could not stay in touch with fellow travelers. They need to go to a system like Princess’ Medallion. It was GREAT!

Recommended: Yes

Just wish we had a way to keep up with our group.

Crusing 2024

March

Pros: Food and drink are great as is the staff and crew

Cons: Doesn't have a 24 hr food and drink spot besides roomservice for food

Recommended: Yes

We had a great time on the ship and was pleasantly surprised as to how nice our cabin with the balcony was. Food was very good and my wife has certain food allergies and they bent over backwards to ajust her menu . The staff was great . The waiter at the Isumi restaurant Jayan was great , he took care to make sure all was perfect for us, even in matching the sake with our meal. The entertainment was top notch and we all loved that there was live bands performing all over the ship vs just Dj's. The only con to me was that they didn't have a 24 hr food and drink spot on the ship as I'm a night owl . But over all I was very pleased with the whole cruise and with Royal Caribbean

Fantastic cruise

March

Pros: crew was the best ever. Night time shows were great. Wonderful food

Cons: Charge for internet was, I thought, A little high.

Recommended: Yes

First of all, we were very grateful that RC rerouted us from Haiti to Grand Turk. We appreciate their looking out for our safety. The buffet was superb. We didn't realize it was spring break so didn't expect so many kids onboard. But we found places away from the crowds to sit and enjoy the views. Our cabin steward was beyond helpful. He (I think his name is Hajje) was the sweetest guy. He always answered our questions and needs. The down side was we didn't realize we had to reserve dining room time before boarding. We weren't able to eat in the main dining room unless we wanted 8:45 pm. So it was disappointing to not be able to do this.

RCL Adventure

November

Pros: Main dining rooms exceptional quality and service. Friendliest cruise staff we have encountered.

Cons: Maintenance crews on occasion blocked off portions of deck 4 outside where we like to walk. A minor complaint.

Recommended: Yes

Super friendly employees. Exceptional dinner menus and dining staff (a shout out to Mary and Tanaka at table 3 My Time dining…just simply the best). More quality entertainment than you could possibly imagine, from piano bar to ice skating shows to Lyric theater song and dance productions to…….well you get the idea. Plus rock wall, water slides, flow rider and more when you get tired of hangin around the pools. Just a GREAT ship.

Great for my second cruise ever.

October

Pros:

Cons:

Recommended: Yes

Only 2 complaints I had were that we had "joining" rooms attached with a door to a different family that had a screaming toddler all day, every day, and every night. The conjoining door completely took away any sound barrier, you could see their lights coming on and off and the shadows of everyone walking by. The attendant and staff were incredible so it's just a review of that part of the room itself. It was as if the tantrums were in the same room they were so loud and easy to hear. Also the costa maya port was over-packed and made it impossible to enjoy it to a decent extent. I know it had so much potential I'd love to go back but there were three ships there at once that altogether fit upwards of 10-15,000 people at once in the port. We were shoulder to shoulder and had a hard time going into a single store at any point. Everyone I know got immediately sick (some with covid) after visiting that crowded port. That point in the itinerary in terms of joining the other ships was poorly decided however I would still love to go back because the location itself was the most fun and beautiful.

Pros: State room and public spaces clean and comfortable

Family Vacation

July

Pros: Food, destination, entertainment, family oriented

Cons: Weather

Recommended: Yes

This my first cruise with Royal Caribbean and my daughter's first time remembering being on a cruise. Her first time was when she was two. This whole vacation because of her she really wanted to go on one. We both had a great time. She really enjoyed the free pizza and ice cream bar as well as the arcade. The servers at our dinner time were amazing and spoiled us so much. We also enjoyed the ice skating show, mini golf and rock climbing. The weather at times were gloomy but it is that time of year for tropical storms so next time I'll take a cruise during my winter and my destination.

June

Pros: The public areas have been maintained nicely. The staff was excellent. Coming on board and departure were very well organized and quick.

Cons: The carpets and furniture had stains. Many minor repairs to the room had not been done. The balcony had a great deal of rust on it.

September

Pros: Good Trip except for Itinerary change after payment and great service on the ship

Cons: Covid testing was a hassle. Music played in Windjammer food area was too loud and not at all commensurate with the passenger demographic.

WE were very disappointed when Halifax was dropped from our cruise itinerary AFTER we had paid. I sent a letter to Royal Caribbean and never had the courtesy of a reply. Not good customer service. St John should be dropped from the itinerary. It's a dead city and most all stores in the Marketplace and nearby shopping center were shuttered. (out of business).

Some good, some not so much

July

Pros: Excellent service, activities, specialty restaurants, most entertainment

Cons: Food is very mediocre at best. The ship is showing some age.

Recommended: Yes

The crew on Adventure of the Seas is outstanding with the exception of the Cruise Director who was not our favorite by far. There were plenty of activities and entertainment options. They headliner, a juggler was not great, but the shows with the Royal singers, dancers and band were very good as was the ice show. As far as the ship itself, it is showing its age. It was supposed to be "amplified," but that was cancelled due to COVID and as far as I know has not been rescheduled. The main dining room food was hit and miss. Some dishes were very good, while some were just awful. The food in the WIndjammer buffet was OK at breakfast, but not very good for lunch. One whole section of the grill portion was closed at the busiest times. Chops and Giovani's were both excellent. All in all, we had a good time, but we much prefer the Oasis and Quantum class ships. Adventure was fine for a fine night cruise, but don't think we would sail on a Voyager class ship that has not been amplified.

First cruise

January

Pros: Ship and staff were clean and very friendly and eager to assist us in anyway they could.

Cons: Ship allows smoking in the casino area inside the ship.

Recommended: Yes

We had a great time but the worst thing about the whole cruise experience was the stale smoke smell on the 4th level which houses a bar area with much of the ships quiz activities ect. Also located on that level is Chops Grill that is a great restaurant and our favorite (by far) place to eat on the ship. The smoke smell from cigars and cigarettes was so bad whenever you entered that level you almost instantly held your breath or it was like taking a hit from Mike Tyson. Couldn't believe that Chops was located anywhere near this stench but inside Chops there was no smell of it. If a person went hungry or was bored it wasn't due to a lack of food or activities on this ship. I cannot compare the staff on this ship to any other since it was our first cruise but has to be hands down the most friendly and helpful people I've met in the service industry. We went to all the shows we could and enjoyed all of them. Wish they had an all exclusive package to make it a little less expensive since we bought the deluxe beverage package and had to get it for all people over 21 in the room. I had no idea of drink prices so got the package to be sure there were no charges to me at the end of the cruise and my wife does not drink alcohol so probably would have been cheaper without it.

Lovely Ship with much to offer

September

Pros: Well maintained ship; like the

Cons: My husband is in a wheelchair and of all 3 ports of call, there were no tours offered for individuals in wheelchairs. As there were many people on the ship using scooters or wheelchairs, the cruise line has to do a better job of thinking about all of its guests when choosing tours.

Recommended: Yes

Though this is not one of RCI's newer ships, it was very well maintained. Our stateroom, and accessible one, was spacious and our stateroom attendant took care of all of our requests. We thought that the food in the main dining room was excellent, and the service provided there was also excellent. We enjoyed the shows that we attended, especially the ice skating show.

April

Pros: Food was the best ever! Service wonderful! Entertainment great.

Cons: Karaoke sucked on ship, no selections at all and staff weren't the best on this venue.

Our main problem for us was "date" selection. No idea it was spring break for 1200 kids on ship out of 3500! Northern US packed them in! Typical things like punching all elevator buttons, taking up hot tub and pools, nothing major. Felt bad for entertainers as studio was never full and sure because parents had to stay with little kids. We loved the ship, one of our best!

Great February Vacation

February

Pros: great size ship; not too large that you are lost and not too small that you are bored

Cons: not as new so doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the larger newer ships---but you understand that from the beginning so not much of an issue

Recommended: Yes

The attention to detail during evening dinning was THE BEST that I have ever seen. We were at table 471 and had Head Waiter Hikmah and Asst. Waiter Ashraye. Hikmah was spot on. Not a thing was left unaccounted. They were a GREAT TEAM and made our dining a wonderful part of our cruise. it was more than about the food! Ken, cruise director was not the best I have seen on past Royal Cruises so that is why I am giving this cruise a 4-star and not 5 stars. I feel the cruise director sets the pace and Ken was just not as involved or energetic as I'd have expected or experienced in the past.

Up the East Coast

July

Pros: Service and Waite Staff

Cons: Traveling with Rude New Yorkers

Recommended: Yes

There are so many things to love about The Adventure of the Seas, I'm not sure where to start. As Diamond Plus members my wife and I are not new to Royal, and since we live in California, where Royal is NOT, we've had to travel Princess and thus have a large basis from which to compare the two. There is no comparison. Royal is better, hands down, going away. The food in Royal's buffet, the Windjammer, far, far exceeds what Princess offers in their buffet, not to mention that it's more spacious and easier to navigate. We aren't treated poorly on Princess by the Waite and Service staff, but the friendliness and out going, sincere nature of Royal puts them in a class by themselves. As to the Adventure, it was NICE to once again see a Royal ship WITH a Viking Crown lounge. They've converted many of them to other venues on other ships, that it was a pure joy to go there, and have a quiet place to drink, and talk with friends and family..

April

Pros: Good food, good service. Very clean and easy to move around the ship. The water slides were great!

Cons: Two ports - Sint Maarten and Saint Kitts were pretty much write offs...very poor, bad infrastructure. Typical port shopping. Maitre'D was useless.

Shopping was just meh. Only one shore excursion, St. Lucia Island Delights, food was not good...Cruise lines could save a lot of money by not having Maitre'D's....they don't do anything. The servers were awesome.

Caribbean Cruise

March

Pros: Lots to do, great food, good shows, promenade rooms

Cons: Heat / a/c was inconsistent

Recommended: Yes

The staff was fabulous. Great room steward, dining waiter and assistant. Loved all of the shore excursions except the Chocolate Experience in St. Kitts. That seemed to be somewhat misrepresented and not worth the money. All other tours were great. The facilities were nicely rehabed recently. The ship had a lot of activities. We enjoyed all of the shows and watching the ice skating. The Flowrider was also fun to watch. We were impressed with the guest services staff when they tried to have a new suitcase repaired (damaged by RCCL), were unable to and replaced with a similar brand new piece of luggage. Turned a negative into a positive!

Our 3rd Family Cruise on the Adventure of the Seas

March

Pros: The staff were amazing. The ship has been refurbished and is beautiful. The food was very good. The children that were onboard were well behaved. There were lots of activities and caribbean music around the pool area. The weather was perfect.

Cons: none

Recommended: Yes

This was our third time on the Adventure of the Seas. We have been on the Oasis and Allure. While these large ships are beautiful and like a floating resort, the Adventure of the Seas felt like being on a cruise ship. These smaller ships can visit the true caribbean islands that the large ships can't. The staff are more attentive, they all seemed happy to be there and interact with the passengers more so then the staff on the large ships. We have taken many cruises and this was one of our very favorite family cruises. We will definitely return to the Adventure of the Seas.

2016 Southern Caribbean Family Cruise

December

Pros: A hotel-transportation-dining-entertainment-relaxation experience

Cons: We couldn't get there fast enough!!

Recommended: Yes

Our family of 7 had the privilege of sailing this wonderful ship with the most wonderful staff and crew in the Caribbean! San Juan is amazing and I highly recommend you fly in the day before or stay and extra night to take in the amazing cultural and historical experience! The nightlifebis alive and buzzing with dancing and eating! St.Maarten truly is the friendliest island in the Caribbean and the beaches and people's are lovely. St Kitts to Antigua to St.Lucia to Barbados, never will you say, "I'm bored!", but, you will say, "What's next!" Huge shout out to Just Cruises and specifically Val Cusumano for her insightful advice, great suggestions, and an over all expertise on this journey! We loved it so much, we booked a Western on the Harmony of the Seas in 2018! I'd recommend nothing but Royal Caribbean and won't consider any other! Thanks Royal Caribbean and Just Cruises for a memory of a lifetime!

Southern Caribbean

March

Pros:

Cons:

Recommended: Yes

I think the larger and new ships are nicer but that goes with the territory. Once you travel on those you compare the cruise to that. I think the upkeep could be better on an older ship, ex. cleaner windows, light bulbs in that work( esp. the dining area) ..entertainment was good but the regular dance and singing team was not that great. The entertainment that they brought in was very good. If a ship says in the "dining room no shorts, lazy wear" then stick to that for everyone...why should some abide by rules and pack a heavier suitcase and others not. Food was excellent.

Spring 2016 Adventure of the Seas review

March

Pros: Absolutely superb dining comparable to the most highly rated cruise lines

Cons: Not really a "con", but this is a massive ship with 2,600+ guests, so be prepared for lots of company

Recommended: Yes

This is a beautiful large ship with outstanding dining, comfortable staterooms, terrific ports of call, and an attentive friendly staff. It is an excellent value, particularly for budget-conscious cruisers.

One of our best cruises!

February

Pros: Service was excellent! Food was delicious (couldn't believe it)! Entertainment was great! This was far superirior to that last 2 Celebrity and Axamara ships.Weather was fabulous the entire week.!!! Not a drop of rain.

Cons: Concierge was awful and the Diamond lounge was small and not at all special compared to most other ships.Specialty Italian restauran was awful.

Recommended: Yes

Our cabin and balcony were fabulous! The most storage we have ever had on any ship so far. Service was exceptional in cabin and dining room. Our sailin excursion in Domenica was amazing(we had never been there). Had the best time with Michael and Jill! First time ever that we were allowed to walk on with all of our luggage. That was really nice! Michael and Jill's first cabin was dirty and so they got upgraded to a bigger inside on deck 10. Will speak to you when you return from your vacation. I want to look into the Crystal cruise that sails to Costa del Sol, Canary Islands, and Portugal. If Royal Carib does something similar, I would consider it. Thanks, Debbie

This was our first cruise. The ship was always being cleaned and maintained. We enjoyed the staff that helped us feel at home and comfortable. It was a great way to spend our 25th anniversary. We hope to go on another cruise in the future. This time with our children.

Less Than Expected, But Overall Fun!

July

Pros: Staff was friendly and happy. The ship was easily accessed. Room was clean. There are many nice places on the ship to gather together with friends and family.

Cons: Cafeteria stye food.

Recommended: Yes

As in our "cons" box, we were disappointed in the quality of food in the main dining room and the lack of personal needed in the buffet area. So without delicious freshly prepared and served food, a large part of the cruising experience is missing. The rest of the cruise was a lot of fun! We did enjoy Johnny Rockets one evening and treated ourselves to unlimited onion rings and fries! The pool area was active and a great place to spend our last day at sea when they had a fantastic barbecue of burgers, chicken, and all the trimmings. Yes, food is an important part of fun.

Caribbean cruise

March

Pros: Overall I was very satisfied with my cruise

Cons: It would have been nice to have a pad of paper and a pen on the desk so notes could be made. Also, regarding luggage pickup. It would have been nice if the luggage could have been checked through to the airport and final destination.

Recommended: Yes

We had outstanding wait staff. I want to commend the head waiter, Memzno, asst. waiter Rodel and our bar server Christian. They did an outstanding job. The food was fantastic but our servers made the meal enjoyable. Our room attendant, Frank Sandoval did an excellent job of taking care of our needs. All of these gentlemen did an outstanding job.

Cons: Windjammer food was average

We had a great time on our trip. Royal Carribean does an excellent job in providing service. The staff is very efficient and friendly. We are impressed with the check in and check out process. The guides on the tours were excellent. Very knowledgeable and provided historical backgrounds of the cities. The ship was recently renovated so everything was new. We look forward to our next Royal Carribean cruise.

Entertainment was awesome. Very impressed. Food was good. Crew was great. Ship was great. Ports of call were great. One thing we disliked was the cigarette smoke. I'm surprised they would put a minority of smokers ahead of a majority of non-smokers. It kept us out of the casinos.

Not the greatest

April

Pros: Clean, cabin was nice.. small but nice..

Cons: Disorganization, lower class of people, food not so good, too slow of service, pay to much for what you get.

Recommended: No

The ship just came out of dry dock, so everything did look good.. nice and shiny and clean. Smelled clean, except for the 28 toilets that backed up on the 6th deck. Total disorganization!! Stood in line for everything you wanted to do or every time you wanted to eat.. luggage didn't arrive till 9:15pm. Crew at the bars, not so nice, purchased the Ultimate drink package but got very little alcohol, bartenders were not very fun at all acted as though we were bothering them.. Room steward, exceptionally nice, he was wonderful at accommodating us, extra tip given to him personally. Grills and restaurants were nice and clean, but the food was mediocre. Entertainment, just so so. The worst part of the cruise was the people on board. I truly expected a higher class of folks, but most were very low class. I was called names by a 30 yr old woman with her 9 yr old daughter... was not a pleasant vacation. Except for our room steward, there was no urgency to please the passengers anywhere. Will not be booking another cruise on Royal Caribbean.
