Our first cruise and it was a great experience

August

Pros: Service and accommodations were great. We loved our balcony! It was our favorite spot to be

Cons: The ship layout was confusing. Some elevators only went to certain floors. You would get dropped off at the nearest floor and then you were required to walk up/down stairs to get to the level you were looking for.

Recommended: Yes

With this being our first cruise, we don't have anything to compare. But were very pleased overall with our cruise. We thought the service and staff were great. Everyone was very kind, helpful and fun. Our steward was very attentive and did a great job with managing our needs. We thought the food was very good with lots of choices. We especially enjoyed the Island Dining room. The entertainment was very enjoyable. Great variety of music and choices. We absolutely loved sitting on our balcony and enjoying the smooth ride and breathtaking scenery. We were appreciative that the captains would point out when there was a whale/wildlife spotted.

Alaska Cruise

August

Pros: Medium sized ship, our waiters and stewards were great.

Cons: Some difficulty in navigating the ship, could use some updating.

Recommended: Yes

This is an older ship, and it showed in some areas. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise. We did upgrade to a mini-suite and appreciated the extra room especially in the bathroom. The port calls in Juneau and Ketchikan could have been a bit longer. The quality of the food was average; some meals were better than others.

Trip of a lifetime

July

Pros: staff, ship, food, excursions

Cons: Saying goodbye to our Caribbean friends after a week

Recommended: Yes

From the moment we arrived on the ship, we were met with friendly smiles and helpful staff. We were newbies to the cruising world, but with the help of staff and other cruisers, we soon found out how to navigate around the ship. Everyday there was a video, from our cruise director Alli, of what activities were happening that day. It was called, The Wake. Also, every evening, we received a brochure of the activities of what to look forward to the next day. Believe me, there was something for everyone! The staff was incredibly friendly and always helpful. Several staff were just exceptional. We met the captain, toured the galley, used the laundromat, disco danced on the top floor, poured champagne on the stack of champagne glasses. We were never bored and tried as much as we could! I had read that some people thought the Caribbean was an older, tired cruise ship and lost its charm. Not at all. It was lovely. I watched the staff clean every inch of the ship nonstop — windows, doors, tables etc. with pride. The ship had plenty of charm and warmth.

Caribbean Princess

May

Pros: Breathtaking scenery, excellent excursions, Ship decor was very good. Cabin set up was very good.

Cons: Food ok, buffet was cold because the doors let in cold air from the outside. it was also crowded hard to find a seat . Food became repetitious lack of variety

Recommended: Yes

We had beautiful weather, we were able to see the Hubbard Glacier and the glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park. The Dog Mushers camp in Skagway, the Whale watching in Juneau and the Crab Fisherman in Ketchikan were all very good and would recommend to anyone going to Alaska. We liked the Caribbean Princess, decor was warm and inviting. Service was excellent throughout the ship from the room steward to the dining room staff. We came down with colds so were unable to do any after dinner activities later in the cruise.

Amazing Alaska Cruise

May

Pros: Great staff, great ports, glacier bay a complete wonder

Cons: Crowded on ship as all was indoors

Recommended: Yes

4 of us, cruised Alaska. It commenced in Vancouver and visited Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and the glaciers IN and round Glacier Bay National Park. We choose this cruise specifically for that. It was amazing. We also took a helicopter out of Juneau up into the ice fields above a glacier for a walk that was humbling as you realize how big they are. Nature will always do what nature does. The land portion of our trip included Talkeetna, the Princess Lodges at McKinley and Denali ending in Fairbanks. No trip to Alaska would be complete without actually getting into the middle of the state and seeing what a majestic place the state is. The crew on board the ship were incredibly friendly and helpful as needed. All in all, we all would do it again.
