Cruising on the Rhine

September

Pros: Great staff on the boat, delicious food, interesting and well done excursions, variety of activities

Cons: Rooms are tiny

Recommended: Yes

This cruise was very comfortable and everyone was so accommodating. The staff was just the best. They could don't have been nicer. The food was delicious and the sites were beautiful. We ere lucky to have had some amazing weather, so that was definitely a plus. I recommend September for this cruise. The rooms were small but very nice. Actually we had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable.

Viking

July

Pros: Intimate, exceptional staff, great excursions

Cons: The classic menu needed more options

Recommended: Yes

The menu. I understand wanting to provide regional foods to the guests. However the classic menu needs a bit of work. I couldn’t eat Rib eye everyday. I was not a fan of the regional offerings. My suggestions: Add the Cuban Pannini to the classic menu all the time. Second, add Steelhead Trout as an alternative to other fish especially Salmon.

Rhine River

October

Pros: I liked that their was always a Viking representative to accompany us and help us with any problems, from the time we stepped off the plane to escorting us through the airport on our return trip.

Cons: The only con I have is that one night was a buffet style dinner and it seemed too crowded. I liked the buffets for breakfast and lunch and the table service for dinner.

Recommended: Yes

I really enjoyed our Viking cruise. This is our first cruise and it was a wonderful experience! Great food! Wonderful crew and staff! Our guides did a terrific job of showing us the beautiful cities of the Rhine and telling us about their rich history!

Fantastic Trip on the Rhine River

August

Pros: Everything & Everyone on board was excellent

Cons: None, except maybe another night of local entertainment like the young duo couple.

Recommended: Yes

Very friendly staff from the cabin crew as you walked dawn the hall in the morning greeting you, to the dinning room staff, to the lounge bartenders and servers. All were exceptionally friendly & helpful. Angel on the piano was also very good with his music. We will definitely be back for another Viking excursion.

Rhine Getaway

May

Pros: Ships was always docked close to on shore activities

Cons: Would love to have a little more room in the stateroom

Recommended: No

This is my third river cruise with Viking. Since the Einar is a brand new ship for Viking with an all new crew I was curious to see how this cruise would compare to previous trips. Given the fact that the crew had only been together for a month, I must admit that the staff seemed to have been working togethers for years. I can't say enough about the service and friendliness of the crew. The cruise director was outstanding. The included tours were great. We also signed up for some of the optional tours as well. As expected, they did not disappoint. I would highly recommend Viking to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.
